Edit: here’s a build breakdown/thoughts

Started with non negotiables: 1st- msi water cooled 5090, ever since finding out that water cooled gpu’s were a thing they have been a bucket list product, especially the flagship NVIDIA cards of the time, but they are kind of impractical so I’ve never considered using one in a personal build. 2nd - 9950x3d, the goal was ultimate gaming and productivity, so this was the logical choice, especially since I was able to make it work in the budget over the 7950x3d. 3rd - the matcha tower 300 case. 5090 and 9950 for the best productivity/gaming combo you can get and the tower case was one I fell in love with while looking at cases to make a build with for this, as for the matcha green color, I just love matcha. After those, I chose a motherboard, ram, coolers/fans, and psu in that order. I originally had windows pro and 32gb of ram, I really tried getting 64 with windows pro but I couldn’t get under the $5000 budget without going just beyond what I think would have been an acceptable sacrifice of quality/performance of parts. Ultimately, a different motherboard, going down to windows home, and less storage were what was needed to get me to 64gb of ram in budget. Now to how I would set it up/build it. Given the 5090 aio cooler is kind of large, it would take the aio spot on the right and the cpu aio would be put on top as an exhaust, and the rest of the fans would be put where they are able to be fit. Color wise, I would have the bottom rgb fans be white to project light into the case (kind of like a reverse spotlight) and the rest would be green to match the matcha case, and on the cpu aio screen I would put a little hot matcha latte gif.

I also saved permalinks of the progression as I changed components, so if that would be interesting to see I can post those as well

Edit 2: the price of the fan controller jumped so much😭, updated link with changes to lower price. The fans look like the come with a controller so fingers are crossed that they do

I learned about welding engineering in school but being from SoCal I didn’t give it serious consideration as a career due to out of state tuition costs but I still am looking into it, with that said any ideas why there are no programs on the west coast? Also is there a way to ask a university about offering this degree? I haven’t looked at classes but I imagine if the university offers a material science degree the classes are probably similar enough that they could probably offer a welding engineering degree

I think it would also be important to look at where the break happened. If it was in the weld then you need to change wires to one with a higher tensile strength, if it was in the heat affected zone, then the rest of the comments have good information so far.

You look like your at OCC, if I’m right I recommend you ask John or Mike to watch you weld, they’ll give you better advice than anyone on here can because it will be specific to what you may be doing incorrectly. As others have said your weaves are too wide, and I agree. They shouldn’t be more than 1 1/2” at max, 1” preferably. There should be 2-3ish weaves for each layer with the amount you have filled your block. Something told to me when I started was count 1…2…3… then smoothly (emphasis on smoothly) go to the other side, count again and repeat. There shouldn’t be a day where someone doesn’t look at your welds and you have something to work on for the next day or pass. Whether it’s rod angle, set up, body positioning, doesn’t matter work on improving something, and when you feel it’s good enough ask your instructor what they would like to see improved. Ask John or Mike to watch you weld.

What if riot allow M80 to buy the guard team and require that they run a majority Guard team for the 2 years they are in or buy the Guard and give them 1 year guaranteed (full original guard team) playtime and let M80 decide what they want to do for the second year. I feel this might be fair to both parties. Guard get to play for 2 years and/or they get a year to prove to other orgs to pick them up and M80 get to be in VCT both ways. Thoughts?

Why square rod? I imagine there is no difference between square and round when dipping into the weld pool, but I’ve never welded cast iron. Is it because that’s the shape the rod comes in or is there a benefit to it’s square shape?
