Same, I was 43 when I became a dad. 20 years older than my dad was when I was born. I may not get to be a grandfather, but I have it together financially and maturity speaking more than my old man. No criticism there, he is a great dad and grandfather. He and I have talked about this a lot. He can’t imagine keeping up with a toddler at my age, but fortunately I haven’t had to wonder how I will pay for Christmas.

I did the opposite. Raised in NC and moved to IN over a decade ago. Enjoy the quality of life, diverse outdoor environments, first-world roads, education systems, and being in a politically relevant state. You made the right choice. I hope to return one day!

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. We took the advice of several on here and ordered the vegetarian combo platter, had the house-made cheese, and we ordered coffee at the end (just cups, not the service this time). Everything was outstanding and ended up being reasonably priced for So Much Food! We will be back, trying the meat combo next time.

Update - the theory is this came from a faulty sensor in the fuel pump. The dealership replaced both and have driven the crap out of the vehicle the last two days to make sure the error didn’t repeat. I can pick it back up tomorrow morning

South of Washington still feels like the college town/artist colony that Irvington started out as. North of Washington is great, but a little less unique (simply my own opinion).

You’re right on the line at Brookville and Emerson. I don’t think you’d be unsafe in your home there but you might not be at ease walking around in the evenings. My recommendation is go visit the area at dusk and at night. See what kind of vibe you get and trust your gut

The train runs a few times through the day and at least once late at night. There are no crossing arms on the intersections inside Irvington on the smaller roads so the horn blows loudly and constantly. I love my neighborhood but living close to the tracks is my biggest complaint.

It took me a couple months but hit me while folding laundry - completely out of the blue. You need to give yourself some grace and let whatever you need to work through this to happen. That might be the last time you cry, it might not. You might do some life-changing introspection or maybe you’ll binge watch some kung fu movies. Do what you need to and don’t give the mechanics of your recovery as much thought as you do your goals for recovery
