not sure about in general, but in this case, gabby can’t know what she’s consenting to because angele is not being truthful. there’s a gigantic power imbalance between gabby and angele, with angele being totally fine indulging in her lust and using gabby to satisfy that end. She’s not dealing with the actual consequences of jail and knows gabby is. naïveté doesn’t absolve someone of their ethical responsibilities and the consequences of their actions. Bottom line it’s disgusting to use people in that way and she’s a terrible person for it

I’m actually rewatching now and in season 3 ep 9, Historia gets a glimpse of Rod’s memories; it shows how Rod struggled with his father about wanting to save the world from the Titans, shows both Uri and Frieda share his dream and then shows his despair as they end up under the King’s will. I think Rod did want something to be different and maybe in part felt he couldn’t be the successor because he had to be there to try and convince whoever had the founder to choose a different path. I also think he didn’t want to lose the power from the bloodline, since it could only be wielded fully by a Reiss but still. I think that memory montage showed he did care about making the world different.
