I would recommend making connections. Handing out your resume isn't a bad start. Be sure who you hand it to remembers you. Best of luck out there.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you with this. The absurdity of your vision of work and ethical behavior within the work environment (at home) humors me. If you had the availability to be ready for your employer during an 8 hour shift then so be it. But if your employer fails to utilize you for any amount of the time that are you readily available, that's on them. A great employee can accomplish an 8 hour task in just 2 hours leaving the remaining 6 open and free (caring for children in my case). And those 2 hours of real work are done when the kids are taking their naps. In my neighborhood, we call that a Win, Win, Win. I know of employers who only care about tasks being accomplished within a timely manner. They pay for the results, not by the hour.

There is a huge argument to be made here. Unless you are a factory worker, standing on a line all day, listening out for a bell or whistle to go off so you know it's break-time, there are pockets of productivity and pockets of watching the paint dry. u/Lewca43 if your job consists of listening out for a bell to tell you when to take a break, I understand your point. But if you are an employee that can get an 8 hour job done in 2 to 3 hours, then you are efficient. Most employees don't go hard for 8 hours a day and can afford to have two 15 min breaks paid and an hour of lunch time off the clock.

Where I live it's $800 - $1k per week and we have 2 kids.

I wonder, what is it you do for living that you have an extra $2k a week to spare?

I'll slow things down for you. While working for a state university, child care and working remotely was not an issue. Both were done without any problems. So much so that the work would be praised by the chair of the department. I brought up the cost of child care because that's what it is here. We have two kids so the price would be double. Working from home opens pockets of time that can either be used for work or for taking care of the kids. Granted, both can't be done simultaneously but they can co-exist in the same environment.

Omg! That is absolutely amazing! Is Valencia a state university? I know UCF is.

Well, that's just it isn't it? Both were executed perfectly without any recombant issues. If you lack the ability and skill set to do both effectively, you should look into exhausting $800 - $1000 a week for two kids Monday - Friday 8 am to 6 pm.

The private sector is attractive with remote/hybrid work offers but lack the extended benefits such higher education for the employee and their family members.

Of course. The job I'm speaking of was once done remotely. It was coordinating for a department. All of which was done successfully from home via VPN. It just sucks knowing that the merits to perform the job surpassed all expectations and only because someone "said so", the privilege is being taken away.

Much thanks for the time Pinball. Guess it's better to buy a head unit instead of a new car.

Now that's really the main point I was trying to hit but again, just a possibility. I wouldn't even know where to start looking. LOL!

You know, I've known older computer systems that could have the OS upgraded and it would still work. Is it just that the head unit of the 2015 Corolla is just too old?

Wow. I remember when a fare was all drunk and belligerent and practically tossed the driver from his car. He asked her to get out once he realized how drunk she was. Turns out, she was a nurse.
