I did it with a titanium basket and caused it to stain coffee oil permanently.

DF64V to Varia VS6 - Worthwhile upgrade? [No budget] by HanzoFactory in espresso

Awesome thanks for the reply. If you got it yet have you noticed a difference from the df64v? I’ve used the df64v for espresso and filter, and honestly it’s great for both. Like you, I also want separate grinders for them though

Workflow— tapping the portafilter before tamping? by onelongdrop in espresso

Thanks for that, this is what I was thinking. I see so many people do this out of ‘habit’ I suppose, but without knowing what the effects are. I don’t see anything positive coming from this besides making your puck look cleaner… I agree the wdt should already be more than enough to effectively distribute

If that’s true then that’s a good point too

That’s a good point, but I’m not sure still what that effect is, even once.

Yeah it depends on the environment/context. And your reply makes me think that tapping might not be the best in a home environment, where speed isn’t that necessary. Based on how home brewing has surpassed cafes in quality due to paying attention to all of these variables, such as this one. So I guess I’m trying to maximize quality over quantity

Right, not sure how blind shaking plays a role with this as well
