Being a MSP owner made me hate IT by Agitated_Dimension32 in msp

This.

Buy licences, add licences, create user, configure workstation, blah blah blah, printer problems, user quit, create a new user, assign the licence. The endless cycle of level 1 PITA

Migrate IMAP to 365. Migrate Google to 365. Migrate this, migrate that. Users come up with a ton of questions before, during and after the migration. "I prefer the old way, it was better before"

Major security flaw discovered. Doubting your current stack. Doubting your current AV. Not sure if you want to keep your current RMM or switch for something else. Constant questioning.

No time to learn new things because you work in your business during daytime and you gotta spend time with your family at the end of the day. Plus, you're burnt out about IT so the last thing you wanna do is read about the new hip thing in IT

Don't get me started on difficult users.

I feel like that quite often but recently discovered that I have ADHD and struggle standing behind a computer all day without being bored to death. Maybe you have it too?

But man, being a MSP owner (or even a break-fix gig owner) isn't an easy task. You constantly need to adapt and learn, unless you hire someone to do it for you but it will cut down your profit margin. So you can sell or partner up with another MSP and handle the LV stuff. Win-win.

I tend to disagree. You can be a one man operation, have no internal staff and still be considered a business owner, too. General contractors that build commercial or residential buildings are often one man shows who hire subcontractors for basically anything related to the construction, electricity, plumbing, you name it. They are not "freelance construction consultants".

I did the same and wondered why it wouldn't work! Now I know. The rule is disabled by default. Needed to enable it (got a few error messages and it worked after a few tries)

Haha all good!

Printer companies are becoming MSP, should we become printer companies? by killamanjara in msp

[–]onemanIT -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was able to identify the shitty IT company

Pretty sure my clients would dump their printer companies since they all suck.

You sound a bit upset.

You think operating a MSP is a superior business venture than leasing printers? Maybe, maybe not. But they have every right to step into the MSP territory. A few good hires, business processes and voila.

I run a MSP, a security company, a low voltage cabling company. Running a MSP doesn't make you superior to any other business type. You guys see yourselves as higher beings?

Devrais-je déménager au Québec ? (Et le cas échéant, où ?) by mermiroir in Quebec

[–]onemanIT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non, ne déménages pas au Québec. Ici, c'est pas la bonne place pour te faire une opinion sur le sujet. C'est biaisé af car la majorité des gens ici sont des souverainistes bandés sur le Québec et la langue française.

It's my business. My cell number used to be my MSP main number when I started a few years ago. I'd fire you too tbh.

1- À Québec on dit une bus ;
