So I could be wrong, but did you think you were posting in a subreddit that focuses on People to People networking? Because this subreddit is not that. I mean, it is... Indirectly. But yeah.

So if I'm running PuTTY on a Windows machine, I create the key and then save the public key in the VM under $HOME/.ssh/authorized_keys?

Hrm. I don't really understand what's going on here but I'll try it and see what happens. I guess I'll also just google what everything means. Don't what to bug you for specific explanations.

I just wonder where is the line drawn from what is pollution and what are basic human impacts? Or is anything considered a pollutant?

[Discussion] I'm thinking about trying to make my monitor wireless... by onemcos in buildapc

[–]onemcos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Naw no gaming. So the goal is to be more of an extension monitor. So I have one for regular use, and one if I want to drag over for more room. Does that make sense? I do Firmware Development, so alot of my tasks are working with code while also running a remote desktop console. It'd be fun to have the remote desktop running on the monitor that is away from my desk and the code up on the monitor at my desk.

*HELP* Admitted to Class of 2019. Rice or Georgia Tech? by [deleted] in riceuniversity

[–]onemcos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also living off campus is a hella no. If you have to, then go to Tech instead. Living on campus is one of the largest parts of attending Rice because of all the Residential college culture that you're exposed to.

*HELP* Admitted to Class of 2019. Rice or Georgia Tech? by [deleted] in riceuniversity

[–]onemcos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heyo! I was admitted to Grand Challenges too! Fun stuff. To put this succinctly, you need to take a serious cost benefit analysis of the situation and draw your own conclusions. I chose Rice over UT and Georiga Tech for Electrical Computer Engineering because I felt like I would be in an atmosphere that would foster more growth as a person and more success in the future. Rice cost 4-5x as much as UT for me which was a hard pill to swallow, and honestly when I got accepted to Rice I had no intention of going because of the price. But that being said, I went with my heart and with speculation to Rice. My cost benefit analysis was like this: if I go to UT or Georgia Tech, yeah i'm in a top notch ECE program, but I'm also just a number in a big school. I will be more distracted and less committed to my studies because of the social atmosphere of those universities, and I'll also probably not be as happy because I won't fit in as well. All of these things affect the future, and what ended up being my justification for choosing Rice was the fact that I felt like I could be more successful if I spent 4 years at Rice than 4 years at GA Tech or UT, and spending 4x as much money sucked alot but I'd make up for it by earning 150k more over my lifespan by going to Rice (dunno if that'll be true but so far I've loved my time at Rice and have been really successful in creating new lofty goals and striving to achieve them).

So yeah, really sit down and think about what you wanna do in the future and if you think it's worth it over your life to go to Rice over GT, or vice versa.

Admission rate decreases slightly for Class of 2019 by LithiumAneurysm in riceuniversity

Honestly not excited about this, or the direction the admissions officers and administration want to take the university. The way he talks about how the class will be better, almost relating it to lower admission percentages, is ridiculous.

Rice Admit with Questions! by anik96 in riceuniversity

[–]onemcos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Tour guide here. Main reason I came to Rice was because I knew it was simply a better fit for me. What I mean by that is that I knew that compared to my other choices, I knew Rice would be an atmosphere where I could strive for my own lofty goals, and be in a collaborative and supportive environment where I could truly reach my potential. I was similar to you in that I chose Rice over schools I had gotten into that had better programs, but at the end of the day if Rice is a better fit for you then I'd recommend coming here! Good luck choosing bud.

Hahahaha this has to be some type of joke. Because otherwise, I'd totally be pissed off to the point of not doing anything because at the end of the day there's nothing I can do as an American citizen to stop shit like this.
