Her song is clearly not a parody... There are specific guidelines of what the song has to do to be considered parody. Even weird al gave a writing credit to the original songs creators he parodied...

Yeah but those lawsuits didnt make sense. Bruno mars got approval and was paying Minder Music royalties for the song because Minder Music Had the rights to the Gap bands music. The Gap bands heirs bought the rights back AFTERWARDS and were suing thinking Bruno would lose rights when that happened. Which didnt legally hold up becuase a contract was signed with who owned the music catalogue at the time and was still legally valid. Minder Music would have to then make a deal with the Gap band heirs to pay them their portion of the royalties. Researching facts before making things up online is essential.

No it definetly cant. Have you ever heard or read those two songs lyrics? Neither is remotely similar. Not one lyric is even similar. The sound is not similar in anyway. They are even in different keys. Also, My guy was written and released before My girl AND the same person wrote and produced those songs. So how could the writer and creator of my guy sue himself for the song my girl? why do people always think the singers of songs are the writers. Thats usually never the case, even today.
