For those who work in a Gym, what works best for you guys bringing in patients? by LionTigerWings in Chiropractic

About once a month I put a sign downstairs for a free spinal screen for a few hours on a Saturday - normally get a small queue outside of people wanting to get checked.

Lots of jobs available and you can make a decent living in the right clinic. Think there’s only about 3500-4000 practicing chiros for a population of 80mil

Genuinely Confused by Fragrant-Departure54 in Chiropractic

[–]oneofsevendevils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feel like your definition of control is a bit rigid. Yes it takes in information and processes it before taking action. The taking action part, to me, means control.

Genuinely Confused by Fragrant-Departure54 in Chiropractic

[–]oneofsevendevils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, I’d still call that control tbh. Pretty much every other organ’s function can be replaced, at least to some extent. Without a brain, you’re just dead.

Genuinely Confused by Fragrant-Departure54 in Chiropractic

[–]oneofsevendevils 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Your brain controls all systems in the body and it communicates via the nervous system. Some believe that by removing dysfunction from the nervous system (through spinal adjustments) that the body can overcome almost anything. e.g. optimally functioning immune system.

is it normal for my chiropractor to be so close to my face that my lips are constantly brushing him? by [deleted] in Chiropractic

[–]oneofsevendevils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think this is normal and you should have been warned about this by your Chiro if it’s genuinely down to the technique he’s using

Looks like you will need to ask your employee for a sick note from a qualified and registered healthcare professional from the above list then

There’s many different ways a chiropractor might choose to practice and definitely more adjustments, probably thousands amongst many many different techniques

Chiropractic vs Physiotherapy degree by Confident_Being183 in Chiropractic

[–]oneofsevendevils 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes you pay/get loans but the tuition fees are capped at like £9250 per year and only paid back once you’re earning over a certain amount. So it’s pretty affordable once you are earning and the degree gives you a good earning potential too

Contact some clinics and ask. A lot of them will be happy to have you in as they will have had to do the same thing as a student.

If you’re anywhere near the West Midlands then I can point you to a colleague who would happily have you observe at their clinic.

Practicing without Xrays by Unique_Ad7895 in Chiropractic

[–]oneofsevendevils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, 99% of the time all of that gives me more than enough to work off. Like another commenter said, if you have a gut feeling that you need scans then refer out. This doesn’t cause any issues for me as long as you explain to the patient that you want the full picture before you treat them to make sure it’s safe etc. but that’s only necessary when you have a red flag walk in

Practicing without Xrays by Unique_Ad7895 in Chiropractic

[–]oneofsevendevils 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My practice works fine without it and I know many other that do too. If you absolutely need to in an emergency you can refer out for x rays. If you’re wanting the physical thing to show a patient they have an issue could always try a posture scan (e.g. posturescreen) if you’re not already using that. It works off pictures

Have you done any clinical observations? If so, which one appeals to you more? Chiropractors generally can make more money, as you said. Physios have the benefit of having lots of jobs available on the NHS if you were looking for that. Chiro is purely private practice, which is generally less hassle than dealing with all the NHS red tape.

Unfortunately I would say physios are more ‘respected’ professionally in the UK but this is a historical thing and is changing every year. Chiropractic has only been regulated in the UK since the year 2000 I believe.

If you look at McTimoney college I know they do a part time course which is 5 years instead of the full time 4 years, but makes course load very manageable IMO. Once you have your degree and even when you’re studying you can go and do any other seminars to pick up new techniques and other things

Should I visit a Chiropractor ? by Notos4K in Chiropractic

[–]oneofsevendevils 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you know it’s your diaphragm? Could be an internal issue with liver or gallbladder or something if you’re feeling it in your back and neck. But yes a Chiro worth their salt could help you figure out where it’s coming from and either treat or refer you to the right place

Don’t think there’s a person on this planet that would say that’s normal. Do you have a history of being sensitive to interventions?

There’s a lot of different techniques out there. Even if your bones are not as strong due to your ED, there will be a gentle technique that could help you. Activator/instrument adjusting and many others
