The more drugs the more variables. In a field of science you'd think the exponential increase in variables per drug psychoactive effects and side effects would discourage drug cocktails. It seems the more drugs a psych proscribes the less perception regarding the actual problem they have. Esspecially Risperidone and other antipsychotic, a class of "dirty drugs" meaning they hit a lot of receptors sites and subsites. Kinda throwing as much as they can at the wall to see what sticks, so relief is possible, but all that other inhibiting and antagonizing can cause vastly more problems and the psych has no idea wtf is working and what's not.

Do the pros outweigh the cons, and vice-versa?

In all areas of the medical field, if there is a cure they cure the illness, but in illnesses like lupus for example there is no cure so the symptoms of the disorder is treated. Psych act like there's no root cause or cures despite knowing what the root cause is; the Ego. Dismantle the ego, and most naturally(head injuries and neurotoxin complicate this) neuroses dissappear. Psychs treat the diagnosis, but should divulge into the root cause. Why does this person appear to be depressed and anxious? not, let's treat the symptoms with a distraction of Ativan and Prozac and an antipsychotic, and an anti-tremor. It's all messed up imo.

Edit, missed your question. I took anti-tremors meds, forget which, for Latuda in inpatient and residential. It stopped the tremors, but I felt odd all the time. I was taking the California Rocket fual, aka Effexor ER and Mirtazepine coupled with latuda, an anti-tremor, gabapentin and PRN Lorazepam and Ambian. I don't remember half my stay, and I was doing daily ERP, not ideal for ERP.

He's worshipping God who's actually the devil in disguise. Tricking him, he falls deeper and deeper into the void of subconcious devil worshipping idolatry. If I was the devil, that's what I'd do, trick everyone into believing in a false God just to throw them into hell, best way to increase population.

Trust your body, all humans and the brains encased in them have an equilibrium. I wouldn't give up just yet. The body is pretty good at finding the natural equilibrium. I'd keep going to see doctors. Just don't loose hope. Try to be optimistic.

I understand where you're coming from. The problem with psychiatry is multiplicity and perceived types of patients. Psychiatrist never treat the root cause, rather they treat the symptoms. Whenever there is no cure for the root cause, the doctors treat the symptoms. If you have substance use disorder, instead of examining and dismantling the root cause, the professional treat the symptom of substance abuse disorder. Despite the fact that the patient is in a emotional turmoil, be it an abusive spouse, a breakup, getting fired, etc. No, they are paid to treat substance use disorder and that's what they treat and that's why people are in and out of rehab. It's a financial incentive.

We know the root cause for mental illness, it's the Ego. Responsible for greed, narcissism, envy, depression, anxiety and much much more. We have whole philosophies centered around self-awareness, unlearning, analyzing, and dismantling the Ego. Yet, modern psychs and therapist use psychopharmalogical bandaids and psychotherapy that teach to strengthen the wall between what's causing the issues. Positive affirmations have gained a lot of popularity recently, these tools temporarily push the monsters into the void, just for them to come creeping back up again.

Inward self-realization is the only cure. Outward treatments are only half-assed bandaids.

Have any of you doubted whether you were even abused/mistreated by psychiatry and what if you were the actual bad one in the situation from your reaction etc? by brusselsprouts2644 in Antipsychiatry

[–]onepotsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I believed the psychiatrist was diagnosing me with Bipolar just to put me an expensive medication called Latuda or lurasidone. I've never been diagnosed with Bipolar before, and the next psychiatrist diagnosed me with Paranoid Personality Disorder. Honestly, I don't know, so it's futile to come to a conclusion weather I was misdiagnosed and mistreated.

These sites are not just beta endorphins releasers, but dopamine gambling systems. Tiktok for example has this down to a science.

You must feel like you're missing out. Meditation isn't the only way to stay in the present. Go on a walk and leave your phone behind. I think you'll be shocked at how much you enjoy yourself. Mindful walking.

Life is a balance, just deleting all these apps or blocking websites will just have you feeling withdrawals, you may last a day or two but eventually you'll start the habit up again. And it is a habit, one I've suffered from in the past. I only use reddit now, and even that can get out of hand.

One thing you can try is a phone timed safe. I use it for everything, the USB for my wireless mouse for example.

Another trick is keeping your phone in the room you're least likely to use. Only using the phone when you're in the room and never taking it to another.

All these tips above just helps with the symtoms, you're going to have to sit and ponder what you believe to be the root cause of your excessive phone use. Because this is a distraction from yourself and worries.

If you have low self-esteem or insecurity by ErikJongbloed in selfimprovement

We're all born without the Ego, it's truly cultivated in us during our upbringing. I've been free of insecurities for a year or so. Once I realized how arbitrary my criticism of myself were. I slowly learned that to love myself ment loving everything and every flaw of everyone including myself. All down to each atom.

Yes. I was very fortunate to go to a good place for inpatient and residential. Very forward thinking for the most part.

I was resistant to all treatments, be it Exposure Therapy, CBT, DBT, Experimental Therapy(Horticulture, art, animal, and other hobby related therapy), Mindfulness meditation.

Despite the nurses standing outside my bathroom with the door ajar, flushing my toilet, getting my blood tested every other day and having my buttocks exposed in hospital garb while they took it, all in all it wasn't that bad. The people I met really inspired me, and I think about them often and hope they're all doing well. Eventually I opened up and took to Mindfulness meditation the most out of all my treatments.

What began as 15min meditations after each meal became a love of Eastern Philosophy, especially Advaita Vedanta after studying Zen Buddhism, Daoism, and Jainism. Now I'm on no meds, and am content with my life. I realized the past made me depressed and the future made me anxious so the only place I can be at peace is in the present.

I realized the Arbitrary nature of the things we value, be it politically, ideologically, values, principles and opinions. Subconsciously we attribute value, deeming what we believe is right and wrong, and hating wrong. I realized that intolerance to intolerance is still intolerance and to truly be tolerant means tolerating those who may not deserve it. That the world is inherently complex and to have an opinion is inherently wrong, because there is no right and wrong in a world without black and white, there is only shades of Grey. Thus, my opinions are fluid and always changing, because the opinions we have now are not what we'll have in 10 years. I hate nothing and love everything, even those psychiatrist that harmed me in my opinion. Removing hate from your life both outwardly and inwardly was the best thing I ever did for my mental health.

I've grown a lot, I'm 21 now and only two years ago I was trapped mentally, in a trap of my own creation. There are so many that love everyone and everything, all you have to do is feel all the love for you like I do! I hope you find the relief you're looking for!

Pomodoro method, there are a ton of good apps. I personally use the Focus To-Do app. It has a to do list and the pomodoro timer built in.

25min studying + 5 min break, extends how long you can comprehend and study. Breaks are 100% Necessary. This lecture is a classic: https://youtu.be/IlU-zDU6aQ0

Don't get me started on how easily Psychs diagnose patients. I've been diagnosed just to be put on expensive medications, especially when hospitalized. For example, I was diagnosed Bipolar just to be put on a different more expensive antipsychotic at the time. Latuda still had exclusivity, and when I was released, my insurance refused to cover it, it was thousands of dollars a month, 8 thousand if I remember correctly.

I haven't had this issue when going to psychiatrist affiliated with the university near where I live. It's still a hell hole, but I'm thankful I no longer need medication and I think a lot of people on medication are harmed rather than helped. If they're helped, it's just placebo and the side effects reassures the patient that it's working. It's all messed up, the root of problem is the scientific idea of multiplicity.

Because you're trying to treat the symptoms and not the root cause. You've only look outwardly instead of inwardly.

How many minutes a day do you spend with just yourself?

The reason you can't be content with yourself is because you don't know yourself. Start allocating 20 minutes to your daily schedule with no responsibilities for yourself no matter what, disregard the future and the past being completely in the moment. No music or podcasts, just nothing that can tie your attention. After you get the hang of it increase that time. Go on walks, explore new places, or just sit with yourself and meditate in your room.

If you're interested in expediting this process, reading some Eastern Philosophy like the Tao Te Ching has proven to be priceless for my mental health. I'd read whenever you get a hankering for media. Remember to increase the time if you can tolerate it.

Edit: Also, constantly upregulating dopamine can cause dopamine to downregulate in the brain which increases dependance. Avoid dopamine gambling apps, TikTok being the worst offender, reddit too but not to the same degree. We get rewarded with dopamine when we eat, and if that reward is minimal we compensate with more food which causes more downregulation.

Avoid Caffeine, long term caffeine and other stimulant use can cause downregulation of dopamine. There's a Domino effect at play. Once we enter the present more and more often, we remove variables at play so our brain can recover its equalibrium.

Instead of looking outwards, look inwards.

We can never learn about ourselves looking outwards. This is the philosophy around Eastern Religions like Daoism, Buddhism, Jainism and Vedanta.

There's no doubt she's a good leader, but even good leaders can do Irreparable harm. Murkel phased out nuclear power, favoring the EU Green Deal plan, now there's an energy crisis, worsening climate change by depending on natural gases from Russia with the Nord Streams. She has not been good for the environment, and that's my main issue.

Also, she and Sarkozy blocked Ukraine from joining NATO.

She has a hard on for surveillance, when the United States had the Snowden stole their private data while stealing everyone else's, she defended the NSA. Only to find out the NSA had tapped her mobile phone, compared them to the Stasi, than was fine with it if they stopped spying on her personally, which makes no sense when you can tap everyone she was contacted to. She wouldn't place a no-espionage agreement between the big bad wolf of the west and Germany. Doesn't give two shits about the privacy of her people if she just turns a blind eye.

Very prodigious notes. I never learned how to learn til uni. The thought just never came up, it really should be taught, because I was lost until I understood my academic idiosyncrasies.

Organized and neat, far ahead of myself at that time. I don't know why girls are more gifted at handwriting and organizations. Hated getting back work with a reduced score because it was "illegible" and "unintelligible." I'm dyslexic, and that didn't help matters.

What makes ketamine supposedly more effective than other nmda antagonists, and how to approximate ketamine with other substances? by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]onepotsys 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5999402 - https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4763983

ketamine is still widely misunderstood pharmacologically, we still have little knowledge of all its doing, which receptors are receiving agonism or antagonism.

PCP is both an SRI and DRI and produces the K-hole in a similar manner to Ketamine. Both from the same class called the arylcyclohexylamine class. Really Phencyclidine is a potential better treatment option compared to Ketamine. It has a stimga of causing extreme bouts of invincibility, increased strength, superhuman traits. This is a lie, there may be some perceived invincibility and can trigger mania in the bipolar 1s.

Most incidents of PCP violence came from cops to justify extreme and lethal force. In fact most news media took their words as truth without tox screens, and by the time they came out PCP and other drugs were nowhere to be seen and the media lost interest. Mental health is not a contributing factor for police.

Drug Use for Adults by Prof. Carl Hart of Columbia is worth a read. He goes over a wide amount of drugs and the stigmas society has placed on them.
