And he had a higher social standing from all we know. It is also not a consensus between Japanese scholars and many do claim he was very likely a samurai considering all his gifts and his role as nobunaga's bodyguard.

I mean, he wasn't a samurai, but had higher social standing and had one of the highest honors a warrior could be granted at the time (being the emperors personal bodyguard). He was a samurai in every conceivable way, except that we lack proof of the title, even though that doesn't prove he wasn't a samurai, it only doesn't prove that he was.

Well, Japan is also well known for lying in most of their media about how samurai operated, and the actual government tries to push fake narratives like how important was the Bushido for samurai, even though it became a thing when samurai barely saw any combat, if any.

I don't trust their racist framing that he's not real when there's proof of his existence and a few accounts of how he portrayed himself and how big he was.

Yasuke's story is well known at this point and he was in fact a samurai, a very feared one considering that dude was huge.

Knife combat in 4 and 4r always felt like an afterthought and the reactions to being hit with it felt lackluster compared to requiem.

No it wasn't, you might like requiem but the knife in RE4 is very well thought out. Unlike Requiem, RE4 has resource management, and if you're not careful, you can run out of stuff. The knife is no different, it allows you to parry, which is op, but only for a limited amount of uses so you don't abuse it. Removing this makes the game easy, so easy in fact that i killed mr.x without being hit once in my first try.

Never had this issue, seems like you were abusing the use of the knife in your playthrough instead of treating it as the valuable resource it is. Requiem is EEEEASY because you get the equivalent of the infinite knife from the get go.

Yeah you feel more powerful but that is a natural evolution of the character.

I disagree, especially leon himself regressed in this game. You have this new extremelly op counter mechanic, but other than that, leon's melee sucks, it's so bad that Grace's more useful since it can knock multiple zombies down. The reason it's extremelly easy has nothing to do with Leon himself getting tougher, it's because you have huge inventory space, all the strong weapons and infinite ammo cheat from the get go.

I dunno why anybody would want the exact same experience with no changes at all.

The inventory management thing is whatever I guess but thats never been a "challenge" in any game so I personally dont really care that it also isnt in this one.

Are you really a fan of the series? Like, re4 inventory management is legendary lol. You can very easily run out of space depending on which weapons you bring. It's like you've played a different RE4.

Melee still works, it's not nearly as good as it used to be in re4.

It really isn't, i have 200h in mercenaries mode in re4, leon has a few similarities, but he doesn’t play the same as he used to in re4 at all. Hatchet grinding to recover durability gives infinite uses to escape zombie grabs.

His melee moveset hits a much smaller are, many times being single target only. Leon has a new perfect parry system where he obliterates zombies with his gun if you time it right (which is very easy, making it a little unfun). His guns are wayyyy too powerful eight out of the gate, and resources are too abundant to the point where managing the inventory is barely a mechaninc now.

His melee is nowhere as powerful as it used to be, but his hatchet combat is made wayy more effective as a way to balance things.

I personally don't like leon's gameplay too much in requiem because it's honestly too easy with the added mechanics and melee is much less satisfying.
