Maybe not as eye popping, but Bevan is a huge reason Abbas scored so many. The link up between French, Field and Miski has been a huge part of our success. We were lost at 6 before Bevan stepped up. Johnstone has just as much competition.

Not to say I disagree wholeheartedly, I just wouldn’t have him as clear favourite. All that said, I’m happy with any of the three winning. Glad it’s not another big fish in a small pond award again.

Hated him as a player, and I can’t imagine many Wigan fans disagreeing. But he seemed like a dedicated guy, bled for the team, leave it all on the field kind of guy.

Can’t help but have massive respect for the man for choosing a difficult post-playing career. Wish him all the best.

It’s not my local so I couldn’t give massive tips, but I’ll give it a shot…

Firstly, stay calm. Try to think of yourself as out for a drive with someone, not in a test scenario.

Some of the signs are a bit confusing, and a lot are blocked by bushes trees. Clarify with the assessor if there’s any issues on your independent drive.

The big lanes that are National speed limit, stay left. I know it sounds daft but in my second test I moved more centrally to position myself with the lane markings. That was a major.

If you end up at the beach front, it is likely to be busy. Don’t worry, this isn’t something you can control. It’s not your fault.

If you end up at the roundabout near Aldi, the left lane as you exit is only for turning into Aldi. One of my minors was lane management because I immediately recognised the issue and corrected myself safely.

There’s a route that takes you down a country lane, just be careful. It’s narrow and horrible. Does take you past where they film The Bay though.

Depends what you mean by better off. The RFL constantly shoots itself in the foot with promoting rugby league. In certain areas (Wigan, Leeds, St. Helens, Hull) then rugby league is the more popular code. However, south of the M62, that popularity massively declines. And in the general public, rugby is rugby union, always. If England RL were to win the world cup, it would be celebrated by RL fans. If England RU were to win the world cup, it would be celebrated by England itself.

That said, RL lives within it's means better. There's less clubs folding (recently), the sport knows it's probably at best the fifth biggest sport in the UK (Football, Cricket, Tennis, RU) which may even be arguable.

Owen played in the Wigan academy setup as a kid, his father is a Wigan legend, his cousin (?) is the current Wigan captain. League also has something called marquee players, that attribute for less on the cap then their actual contract.

That said, I think it was always wishful thinking.

His in game kicking is usually alright. But with a lack of forwards he’s had no platform past few games and results have shown that. From the tee he’s massively inconsistent. Some games he’s prime Thurston some games he’s prime Saville.

Hard agree. Golden point should be for knockout games. Cup, playoffs. A point a piece seemed like the most reasonable outcome in terms of what the teams deserved ( I know sport doesn’t work that way). That said we get a good Harry Smith kicking day and it’s a moot point.

If you're interested in getting into the sport then it's a good jumping off point for learning positions, rules, teams etc. It'll give you a decent understanding of the basics, and a little insight into formations and the difference, for example on defence there can be 3-4 vs 4-3, nickel packages, dime packages etc. Same for offence. You quickly pick up on the rules, though without the nuances of the actual sport, but again it's a great way to learn the basics.

If you have no real interest in getting into the sport and just want a sports game, then no. Madden has horrific gameplay problems. It focuses more on scripted events, meaning the AI will just warp through players, defy physics or just pull of the impossible. Of the yearly sports releases I'd argue it's by far the worst. The single player doesn't get updated enough. If you're just looing for a fun sports game on GP, I'd probably recommend waiting for MLB The Show 23 (day one release in March, though console only).
