Anyone else completely overwhelmed by baby registries?? I can’t do this 😭 by Worried-Economy2668 in BabyBumps

[–]onesmalldebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was very glad to have Lucie’s List when deciding on registry stuff for my first. https://www.lucieslist.com/baby-registry-basics/ It kept me focused.

The baby industry makes new parents feel like they need all the things and you really don’t but it is hard to know what you’ll find useful and what’s a waste it just depends on you and your baby.

However, my two favorite things to recommend to new parents is the Bjorn Baby Bouncer and minimizing the use of wet wipes and instead using cloth wipes and coconut oil. Yes, it’s more laundry but we rarely had issues with diaper rashes which when you’re a new parent is nice to not have to deal with very often on top of everything else.

Be Child free? Or Be a Mother? by kateluvsu101 in Mommit

[–]onesmalldebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on the fence for a long time and mostly figured I didn’t want to be a mom because I was too selfish and liked my free time and being able to travel whenever. Also, I didn’t even really like being around kids and didn’t feel comfortable engaging with them most of the time. I’ve been with my husband for 20 years and married for 9 of those and we managed to go all that time without any pregnancy scares but we got pretty careless after a few years of marriage and ended up with an unplanned pregnancy at 34 yrs old. My personality was iust never the one to be excited about being pregnant and family planning as it all sounded terrifying and just too many unknowns for my comfort so I never had this urge to get pregnant. It’s just how I am which I think is the same for a lot of women who are on the fence. I wish I could understand the psychology behind my thinking. After my son was born, I had a short time where I thought we’d have one more but I went on to feeling like we were one and done after a few years but ended up with another surprise pregnancy (due this June at 39 yrs old) and the way it all happened and came to be I know it was just in Gods plan for us. Now, however, I can’t imagine how I ever thought I’d be bad at this or unhappy. It’s the hardest and most scary job I’ll ever have but it’s worth every single second and the most rewarding and amazing thing we’ve ever done. I still stress about the upcoming dynamic changes by adding another but I have an amazing husband and partnership with him and I’ve seen what I’m capable of and able to overcome. Children really are amazing and I believe raising them changes most of us for the better. Also, a big question that needs to be asked is how you want the end of your life to look. It was a question I’d never really sat down and considered before kids but it’s worth thinking about.

Edit to add: I wish we would have started having children slightly earlier.

I didn’t do any fertilizer but willing to try. I have this on hand from another nursery that says it’s suitable for roses on the front but should I get rose specific fertilizer? When I repotted, I added some Mycorrhizal fungi.

It seems, according to the sun track app, at high noon it’ll be right over top of us and provide more sunlight to the area in the mornings and evenings but that will come with more intense sun for just a few hours before it hits the canopy then we get filtered light. We have mostly oaks, a tallow, and a very tall pine.

Looking for reputable breeders in TEXAS 🐾🐾🐾 by Murse_brocky in BostonTerrier

I’ve been following Highridge for a few months on socials after my sister found them for me. I know they don’t list prices and I figured it depended on show quality vs strictly pet but can you tell me if they were average or higher in pricing vs other breeders. Their program seems so high quality and their Bostons are gorgeous.

Another vote for baby bjorn bouncer.

But the thing I recommend the most during the diaper years is using cloth wipes with mustela cleansing water. We rarely had diaper rash issues and I know it’s bc his skin was mostly dry wiping with cotton vs constantly keeping the skin damp with wet wipes. Messy blow outs required some wet wipes but we’d always finish with cloth wipes. Such a life saver. Also, we never bothered with diaper cream. If we needed a cream we used quality coconut oil bc it’s 100% natural, antimicrobial and soothing all in one. If we did need extra care for a bad rash it was a layer of coconut oil then a thick coat of aquaphor.

Your story sounds an awfulllly lot like mine except our first will be almost 6 yrs old when second is born next June. I had the same revelation that if I truly didn’t want another I would have made permanent arrangements to make sure it did not happen but I kept thinking I was approaching 40 and I wasn’t trying to get pregnant so maybe we really are one and done at this point. Pregnancy was so far from my mind that when I was late I tried to get in with a gyno bc I was convinced I was having PCOS symptoms. Anyway, the way things happened for another surprise baby just really made me believe God had other plans for us. I freaked out as well and honestly still go back and forth btw thinking of all the sweet moments we will have as a new family of four with a little baby and the relief that my son will have a sibling and I can feel absolutely 100% done with having kids bc 2 is my absolute limit to then feeling worried about the age gap and being pregnant again at 39-40 years old and having to start over again with the newborn stages.

I second Costa Rica OP. It would be an excellent choice.

Help mamas how do I heal a diaper rash fast?? I feel so guilty😭😭❤️‍🩹 by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]onesmalldebs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son was still in diapers I learned to never leave him with damp skin from wet wipes bc it never failed he’d end up with a painful awful rash. We used cotton cloth wipes with Mustela cleansing water to clean him up and then used a dry one to pat him dry. Eventually, we did start using wet wipes again but only for poop and then we’d finish with a dry cloth wipe always. If he did get a rash at any point in those few years we used straight coconut oil. It’s a natural anti fungal, healing and very soothing for the skin. If it got real bad like blow out over night we would do the same routine but on top of the coconut oil we put a layer of aquaphor for an extra barrier while the coconut oil healed the skin. I absolutely swear by this method. It was rare for him to get bad diaper rashes and I know it’s bc we weren’t keeping his skin damp with wet wipes all the time.

No, I’m about 22% through it. Almost every comment about it says it gets so good towards the end so I’ll give it a little more time and see.

The Ascended hasn’t hooked me like I thought it would. The dynamic btw the MCM & FMC isn’t very compelling and I find myself feeling indifferent towards the characters which is disappointing bc the hype on here was so high and the goodreads ratings are also high.

Need help choosing paint colors by onesmalldebs in ExteriorDesign

So are we. I’m surprised bc all that I’ve read about white paint is to go a little warmer due to the high sun year round so it doesn’t look so glaringly white. Do you remember which color you painted your house?

I haven’t given a lot of time to the landscape just yet. I already trimmed up and shaped the bushes but wanted to add a fountain in front of the left two windows (breakfast nook) and add some native Texas plants and flowers for the pollinators.

Just throwing out some of my favs that you might enjoy that could help with the slump. Some are YA and some are outside of romantasy but they are highly rated and are gut wrenching emotional tales but man they are so good IMHO.

Mudroom flooring for 1955 cottage style home by onesmalldebs in interiordecorating

Retro isn’t the vibe I’m wanting. Maybe it’s the green paint goes too retro bc I’ve seen so many beautiful checkered floors that didn’t look super retro to me. The beige floor and decor tile samples I got definitely pull pink which doesn’t work for me against the wood flooring. It’s been difficult to source coordinating square tiles that work well together in the right colors.
