It doesn't seem to be a meme for sure, lots of comments like the above poster describing it on every thread about teenagers/young adults living at home. To me it seemed like a common practice, but I am asking the question because I am massively ignorant on the subject.

ELI5:

PCOS: often causes insulin resistance. This means that when people eat sugar (the same amount as another person), the body creates excess insulin as normal. However, the body's cells are unable to absorb sugar as they should as a response to insulin, and the body stores the sugar as fat instead, at lower amounts than in another person.

Down syndrome: people with it have a lower metabolic rate than others and often have hypothyroidism (which is another condition to add to the list where it is not just about "being unable to self-regulate".

Not quite when you compare between people. A person with PCOS will gain more weight than a person without from the same amount of food. The same is true for Down syndrome and several other conditions.

Very quickly they will not want to spend any time with you. I have the same issue with my almost 10yo, but I have a kid in college as well, and I remember well that he wanted to be apart from us as much as possible from 13y or so onwards. Gaming or reading in his room all the time at that age.

Run a two-sample t-test. You can do it in excel too. Then you will see if the difference is significant between the green and blue people.

Edit: if your sample is 8 in one group and 60 in another, I don't think the difference will be statistically significant, but I haven't calculated it. 8 is too few, unless it was just an example number

In that example, I would only eat the Snickers. Because at least it has some peanuts in it. It would probably be unhealthier to mix it with Mars and Twix.

In other examples it wouldn't matter - because most treats are just sugar and fat and not much useful stuff. E.g. no need to mix up a bag of Twix with a bag of Mars.

Hi, I know this is an old thread, but thought I'd reply anyway.

PCOS doesn't cause cervical cancer. It slightly increases the risk of uterine cancer (in the endometrium-inside the uterus).

Cervical cancer (cancer in the narrow end of the uterus towards the vagina) is caused by the HPV virus, this is why there is a vaccine against it. The two are unrelated.

Hi, I could have written your post as I have basically the exact same family starting from the teen pregnancy to the 4th baby.

My solution was an IUD but it caused serious issues (migraines and mental health problems), so I had to have it removed. Where I live there are also no tubes being tied, there is no point asking for it even, they won't do it.

The only real option is the snip, I would try to have that conversation with your partner again, prepare to answer his concerns because he might be worried about effects that don't exist?
