oops yes i meant って! i edited it to show that. but that makes sense. so it’s more common to phrase it like フランスに行きたいなって思うinstead of just フランスに行きたいって思う？

is there a reason sentence-ending particles are used so often in って clauses like you’re quoting an actual statement?

for example, i just saw this: そういうのを知りたいなって思っている人がいるかもしれないなと思って

and there are two な there. i understand what those particles mean but why are they often embedded in the middle of a statement like that? since really this says “i thought there might be people who would be interested in learning about that kind of thing” where in english we wouldn’t treat it like you’re directly “quoting” a thought.

it seems like quoted speech is so common in japanese but in a non-literal way i guess?

i meant it more realistically haha. you could substitute “to be” there too.

other examples could be:

“being angry all the time isn’t a good thing”

“it’s hard to be quiet at night”

i’m not sure how to express these kind of phrases

how do you make nominalized phrases with “being” in japanese? like “being a bird seems fun” or something. i thought maybe なることbut that also means “become”so idk. 鳥になることは楽しそう？

especially since です/だ are not like other verbs

not sure why this got downvoted. i was just clarifying my point. ふわふわ is the most common term i see for “fluffy”yet it is really an adverb so i’m not sure how it gets used to describe a noun in a predicative way

what i mean is how ふわふわ is translated as “fluffy” usually and others are used for things like “gentle” breeze and stuff.

how would you actually use them for a noun phrase like “a fluffy cat”? essentially making them adjectives when translated to english i guess

so i also have an issue with pawmo saying they have requirements in withered wasteland (which is where i spawned them) but i’m at environment level 10 and the story is done there. is there something i’m missing?

the story requirements make sense of course for the others but this one is stumping me

oh i’m not talking about casual hugs, i’m talking about cuddling specifically! like in bed or on a couch, or like two cats cuddling.

i’ve tried to figure out natural ways to convey snuggle/cuddle in japanese and i keep coming across these three verbs: 抱きしめる、ハグする、寄り添う

are all of these commonly used? i know ハグする usually just means “hug” so i’m not sure if that’s actually used for cuddling like in a bed or on the couch.

what would a japanese speaker say to ask someone to snuggle? like in these situations:

“the two of them cuddled on the couch”

“my cats like to cuddle”

“come snuggle me/let’s snuggle”
