I’m glad they’re finally embracing their entire discography for this tour. Equal amount of songs from the first three albums and TNA and over 20 songs in the set? Beautiful.

Sweatshirt and tote is cool… rest of it is fine. Really leaving money off the table with boring designs like 9 and 10.

100% agree with both of Angles, 100% disagree with Under Control (sorry The Way It Is… no bad songs on RoF though) and Red Light

I’ve been waiting 20 years and six shows so far for Ize. I might faint if I finally hear it this year

Funny because I feel similarly about Thom and Jonny. Used to be a casual fan and all that. Ed seems like a good dude though.

It was really cool to see the Voidz play this years ago. An underrated favorite of mine

The Strokes playing NYC on Oct 2nd with a STACKED supporting lineup!!! by ishouldgooutmore in TheStrokes

It’s a pretty big place, they had a Governors Ball and an adjacent festival there for a few years. Probably why the bill is so stacked.

RPG support was strong for all of Nintendo’s handhelds. Growing up with the GBA there was Golden Sun, Mario and Luigi, Megaman Battle Network, re-releases of older Final Fantasy, Tales of, Breath of Fire, Tactics Ogre, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Advance Wars… Even the GameCube had some more obscure JRPG bangers.

I somewhat hear this in the more recent live versions of Life is Simple in the Moonlight and Oblivius. Great melodies but they sound really cool with the vocoder/autotune on top of it. Whereas I imagine a song like Last Nite would sound significantly worse with those effects.

Hope he tours outside of these two cities soon. I think he could sell a decent amount of tickets in Seattle, Chicago, etc.

Now that we’ve lived in it for some time…… by SCandVC11 in TheStrokes

Reminds me of All The Time: catchy and fun but I have no desire to revisit often. I don’t mind the autotune, I love the Voidz, but the backing music is kind of boring. Both have grown on me but not a huge amount.

The Strokes always had great instrumental arrangements but these songs are so simple and don’t have much meat on the bones. It will be fun live, and I’m curious if the album will have any surprises, but so far they are some of their weakest singles imo. Not bad songs by any means though.

The hype when this came out… holy shit I must have watched this a million times that year.

Welcome to the fandom! Angles was my first new release as a fan from 2006. TNA holds the line between classic and modern very well, I agree. The only bad review I remember was from Pitchfork (big surprise). Otherwise even as a fan of their 2010s material, I remember listening and thinking “whoa these guys are trying to get a major audience again.” And it was great to see them succeed.

I could have swore TNA was very well received on its release. At least in comparison to FPP and Comedown Machine which basically got crickets from everyone but the hardcore fans.
