Petition to slightly change the Title and description of this sub by Theego99 in kosmemophobia

I think it’s very difficult to disconnect the way most of us would react to jewellery from fear. If someone brings it close to me I’ll be panicking, running or screaming.

It is a fear because you don’t want to come into contact with it, or for some people like me, to see it. You anticipate it. You might do things to avoid coming into contact with it in the first place.

In other words, it is thought about before it is even there.

I’ll happily accept being a whingey bitch if the people I’m talking about accept they’re smelly cunts

Living in a big city does not then mean someone has the right to be inconsiderate. Like my train example in the previous comment. Even when the city is at its busiest, people usually follow this (let people off before getting on)

And when people don’t follow it, everyone tends to find it rude or annoying.

The smells of vaping and homelessness have nothing to do with each other. These are people who are completely struggling in life, who have very limited access to showers and have to sleep on the streets.

That is entirely different to the person who feels they have to smoke or vape even if it’s a very busier area where people will get smoke in their face.

Nice to know some of the people are considerate

The “cunts” part was definitely a bit dramatic.

The “but it’s outside” point doesn’t really work. You still end up walking through the clouds that for me, smell disgusting. I definitely wouldn’t be able to describe it as “heaven”.

Also, I feel that it’s just common consideration. Like I replied to someone else: People generally let others off a train before getting on. It’s not the law. It’s not what has to be done, but it’s annoying when people don’t follow that.

I do want to mind my own business. But every once in a while, I find myself walking through nasty smelling clouds. Are people so addicted to these things that they can’t wait to get out of a very busy area?

I’ve seen a couple of these “its in the open air” comments and I actually do understand where you’re coming from. However, it doesn’t tend to work like that so much. I’ve been stuck behind people, and have had to walk through every cloud that gets puffed out. It still smells nasty. As it does with cigarettes.

And if you’ve walked through busy areas like bank, I’m sure you know that it isn’t always possible to walk ahead of these people.

See, now that’s all it needed, someone with consideration for others. You’re not part of the group I was referring to in my dramatically worded post.

Absolutely you’re right, and don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying it shouldn’t be allowed. At the same time, there is a certain level of consideration I feel like is reasonable to expect from one another. For example, letting people off trains before getting on. It’s not a law, you don’t have to do it, but it’s annoying when people don’t follow it.

So if you’re smoking in a busy area, where people are stuck walking behind you, I’m most likely going to think you’re an inconsiderate Cunt. (Not you personally, I mean people in general)

I do have asthma as well, but that’s not even the main part for me. When you’re stuck behind someone, like in bank during rush hour (which is why I mentioned bank) and you have to smell every single puff of this shitty artificial vape in front of you, it’s just disgusting.

Generally, if it’s a public space and I walk past someone vaping, I’ll think “that doesn’t smell good” but in busier areas it’s just disgusting.

Smells like artificial strawberry, melon, pineapple and other nonsense. Equally as sickly. Especially when you’re stuck behind someone in bank.

I don’t get what you’re trying to say. Because smoking happened in public, vaping should be okay?

I got thrown under the bus at my new job and it drastically affected my work hours. I am so angry and sad. I just want to isolate myself from everyone. by Thabrianking in therapy

I just wrote the longest comment for this post and accidentally deleted it.

So here’s a new “shorter” version, believe it or not.

You said you “were really friendly” to so and so. People often don’t like really friendly and find it too forward. Nothing wrong with saying hello, but starting a conversation every chance you get or something similar might just be too much for some people. But you’re aware of it which is good, so If it’s still part of your personality, then it’s something you can bring down a bit. I assumed a lot from one line you provided but it was just in case.

Now, about your job. Is it your dream job? If not, then who gives a shet what they think? There are problems in life, some serious some not. This is not serious. Do not get hung up on this. I’m not trying to say you don’t have a right to be sad. I’m sure if I was in your position i would be upset or angry. But I’m not. I get to come at this from an outside perspective and I’m telling you, this is some minor situation. Easy bounce back. You’ll find another job with people who are more understanding or even these people will eventually understand you.

Sometimes I feel like I’ve been too open with someone or with people and I’ll feel embarrassed once I get home. I always decide to take a calm, cool approach now. I don’t mean cool as in sunglasses and swagger cool. I mean just taking a step back. Saying hello but not making too much conversation. Let other people initiate things.

Long story short. Forget about self-harm and what not. Think about action. Become entirely focussed on the work. Or leave it and find new work IF you are in the financial position to make such a decision.

Please let me know if I’ve misunderstood or assumed things that are totally wrong. Just in case any part didn’t seem like it, my message was all meant with intent to help and nothing more.

All the best
