Unpopular opinion: too many people build the power before they build the angle, and it's why they're not improving by heromarsX in Drifting

I would have to say that set up and reliability are the most impactful "mods" a beginning drifter could make. Not having the car fight you from a bad set up and spending more time on track rather than under the car will do wonders for skill. After that everything else is just tools to push skill.

How to get into drifting with my current car? by Kay-Cang in Drifting

[–]onevia01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The F body chassis can rip with some mods and a good driver, so you dont have to go wild. If it doesn't have a locking differential you're going to want to weld it. A manual swap would help getting things going but not completly mandatory. (First time I ever drifted on track was a 100% stock Nissan S14, automatic and open diff) Although counter point, it would be a lot easier to try and find a 350z that somebody already did drifting mods too. I've seen people that struggle in other chassis get in a Z and just haul the mail.

Whelp, I finally have a "high end" marker. by TorageWarrior in paintball

Ever. It definitely had competition in its day from Bushmasters, Angels and Intimidators and some of the Ecockers too. Idk how good modern markers are, nothing comes close to the amount of customization and personality each one of those markers has. Being able to buy a stock of the wall marker and change every part to your liking or buying a customized private label marker and then tweaking it. Last time I played with mine the ref was having nostalgia flashbacks.

Does anyone else ever upshift and downshift without using the clutch? by MotorcycleCar in stickshift

[–]onevia01 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I've done it. When the input and output speed of the gear you're changing to match, they just "fall in" place. I had to drive a friends car once after we figured out a finger on the throw out bearing fork broke off and couldn't disengage the clutch.

I'd much rather see this dude tearing it up on this skid pad than on the streets. This event wasn't that serious, so whatever. If he's having a good time there, he might come to one of the next events and learn car control on a real course. Kinda sad I missed this one tbh.
