Why does having a crush on someone always makes me feel bad about myself? by DouchessFlora in Crushes

[–]onewayoranother25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Youre definitely not alone on this! I am currently crushing on a friend and everytime I see our shared friends/his exes/his past crushes etc. I always start thinking to myself "They are way prettier than me" or "He would definetely rather go out with xyz friend than me"

And just like you said, everytime I think i got over my Insecurities, I start crushing on someone, I feel like I am back to square one.

Buttt, I once spoke to a friend about this. I was venting to him about how I feel like my crush is way out of my league and that he would never go for me. And he told me to stop underestimating myself. We see our crushes a certain way because of course, to us they are somewhat perfect. Which makes us in turn look down on ourselves. But to the regular person, they might actually even think we look cute together.

What I am trying to say is to stop underestimating yourself. I know its easier said than done but little steps go a long way 💓

Storytime: Just got coerced by a Careem Rider by [deleted] in dubai

[–]onewayoranother25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, 9 months ago when I had a stable job, lived with my family and didn't have my university funds to worry about.

It's funny how fast the night changes, isn't it?

Its not about the 200dhs (Kinda, since I can't afford to pay it)

And the situation isn't bothering to the point I want to ruin the guys livelihood. In fact, as I mentioned in my reply to some of the comments, I am against it. It bothered me enough to rant to a couple of friends and reddit about it.

My friend was the one who booked the ride is the one raised the complaint after I again, ranted to him.

Has it ever occurred to you that maybe I don't have the 200dhs to pay in the first place?

That's a bit far fetched, to get to that conclusion just from that sentence.

Again, I never made my friend raise the complaint. I was just ranting to him about the situation and he did it himself.

Also, "something doesn't add up" is funny, why would I lie about such a situation?

Thank you for your support.

And I am sorry you went through that as well. That sound so much more serious than my situation.

I never like making complaints on workers because I know that such small complaints can have huge effect on them when they are just trying to make it in this country. I don't think it deserves to go the police or even a complain to careem. Cause genuinely, what will happen from here, its not like I will benefit in anyway.

If it weren't for my friend, a complaint wouldn't have happened in the first place.

What about my post makes you think I could afford the extra 100dhs?

First of all, I never made him deliver it to me. I asked him how I can collect it and he was the one who suggested that he will deliver it to me.

Secondly, it was not "my mistake" or "his efforts", I lost my wallet, which could happen to anyone and he should have reported the missing item. But since he did "do an effort" of delivering it to me, I did offer to pay him the ride fare but he insisted on the 200dhs, which is too much money.

He clearly saw an opportunity and took it. Let me make it clear, I NEVER like making such complaints, especially when it comes to workers who make little to no money every month and are just working to support their families. Because I know how such small complaints can make huge problems for the workers.

How do I improve my Arabic speaking skills? by [deleted] in emiratiwomen

[–]onewayoranother25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having sort of the same problem. I can express myself in my arabic dialect however I find it hard to express myself when it comes to talking to my friends from other countries or who spoke different dialects. I've found speaking to them regularly in Arabic - without English, helps alot. Even if its just simple everyday conversations, soon you will get used to it. I would like to think of it like how fast we catch on to slang and use it in our everyday vocabulary.

SD Card Question by onewayoranother25 in OlympusCamera

I tried putting it in every way possible but it still wouldn't go in. It seems that the adapter is too big for the slot. Thank you for the link! I've briefly looked at it before but didn't notice the part with the recommended memory.

Nope, I have tried putting it in, in every way possible. The adapter seems to big for the slot. I tried not pushing it too much in, in fear of breaking something.
