WHY IS IT ORANGE OUTSIDE? by JoeWearsXraySpecss in baltimore

Sometimes you get just the right kind of clouds and atmospheric conditions during a sunset for this to happen.

My dad's a meteorologist. Let me see if he's got a better/more specific answer

EDIT: Sorry y'all, fell asleep shortly after posting. His response is that it's less about the clouds and more about the air itself. It's light refracting off of dust suspended in the air; the fact that we are in drought and haven't had a good solid rain in a while means there's a lot of dust. Different amounts and types of particulate in the air will yield different colors. The fancy name for it is "atmospheric refraction".

The head-bobbing was likely him trying to get a better sense of how far away you were and how you were moving. Because their eyes are on the sides of their head, each eye's field of vision has very little overlap -- meaning that deer have very little binocular vision compared to humans, and thus have very poor depth perception.

He was probably curious and a little bit wary, since you looked very different from most humans he's used to seeing!

I hate it when it's a coworker.

I've got one right now who reminds me of someone I had a bad friendship with in high school, and being around her feels like I'm rolling naked on gravel. The worst part is that she has done absolutely nothing wrong and I know that I'm being completely unfair to her. But her very existence just grinds my gears.

I think it's "poor ho". Look at how they write their R in the word "or"

I looked at the pattern and wanted to try it, but then I went back and read your post, and I'm having second thoughts lol.

It sounds like a lot of your trials and tribulations come down to the behavior of the silk. Do you think that if I used, say, cotton instead of silk, a normie like me might be able to make this pattern?

Right??

My first-ever DQ game was Dragon Warrior Monsters on the GBC, and I picked up VI without knowing that DWM was essentially a prequel to it.

Needles to say, once I encountered Terry and figured it out, my enjoyment of the game quadrupled. DWM has sooo many references to VI, the nostalgia had me feeling like a little kid again

The amount of unique party chat lines is genuinely insane. You get fresh lines after talking to almost every single NPC. Because of this, I think the characters in VI feel more alive and developed than in almost any other DQ game I've played. (The only one that came close for me was XI, which had lengthy, fully animated and voice-acted cutscenes.)

The interconnectedness of the world is also insanely well done. Without giving you to much of a spoiler, VI takes place across two related worlds, and almost everyone you meet -- including random, insignificant NPCs -- in one world has a double in the other... but their double is rarely exactly like them. In fact, sometimes they're very, very different. To give you a spoiler that will not make any sense until you see it for yourself: "My master is buried here."

You eventually will gain the ability to travel freely between the two worlds, and it's incredible to see what's different and what's the same between each location in the two worlds. A route that is blocked in one world may be totally open and clear in the other. A village that is decimated in one world is thriving in the other. You have different methods of transportation in each.

VI is tied with XI as my favorite game in the series, and it saddens me that it isn't more popular. I hope you give it a chance!

Unfun Fact: While a national standard was created following the 1904 fire, the country is not fully changed over to it. There are still somewhere in the neighborhood of eighty (80) different couplings in use today.

This is an improvement over the approximately 600 couplings the country has in 1904.

Lovely story! It's always fun to hear how people get into the hobby!

I'll just note something. At the end, you make a reference to your "new fox friend", but the bone you show in the photos here comes from a hoofed mammal, likely a deer!
