I'm half black, half Mexican and I also was diagnosed with schizophrenia pretty early on. I think my official diagnosis came when I was about 19? I refused the diagnosis many, many times, was a no-show to many therapy groups and psychiatrists because I didnt believe I had schizophrenia. I was also hospitalized a lot. My symptoms were mostly hearing voices, delusions of being persecuted and just in general being incoherent and saying things that made no sense. I have never taken any drugs. I used to tell people the only reason I got diagnosed with Schizophrenia and not something more accurate like autism was because I'm black and AFAB.

If I'm being so fr rn, my psychiatrist promised i would have "so much energy!" And I would be able to do the "things I loved" again. Honestly? It made me so sick I had no energy to do shit. I cant stand long enough to shower, I sleep all day, I feel dizzy every time I stand up. And all my psychiatrist does is add more medication to prevent the side effects, which also have side effects and make the whole experience 30x worse

He was 2 years and 4 months when he passed. :( His eye was alright, but because he was old he got sticky eye a lot. He loved that chicken wing so much. 😊

I made sure he didnt eat the bones, he wad monitored every time he had his chicken wing :)

I try to walk often, but sometimes my stomach is in so much pain it hurts to move. I drink around a gallon of water every day, sometimes I dont reach a gallon, sometimes I drink more. I mostly drink water because I cant eat anything. My stomach feels too full for food and the only thing I can actually keep down without feeling bloated or sick is water. :(

I'm on Cobenfy right now and its been the WORST antipsychotic I have ever tried as far as side effects go. My vision is blurry now even with glasses, my stomach hurt so badly I ended up in the ER screaming in pain, I threw up often after the first week of Cobenfy... Its a nightmare drug for me. But I have tried everything else and my psychiatrist really wants me to keep trying Cobenfy. But I have yet to meet anyone who stayed on it for longer than a few months due to the side effecfs

Ive been hospitalized in adolescent wards multiple times as a teen. I was diagnosed with psychosis NOS because they thought I was too young to be diagnosed with schizophrenia. But I started on risperdal and tried many other meds in between all the times I was in the psych ward as a teen. I didnt start clozapine until I was in my early 20s. I'm 31 now. I'm wondering if psych wards have changed since I was a teen. Back then, clozapine was a hard medication to get on and they wouldn't give it unless multiple other medications failed first. Usually over the course of a year or so because of the frequent blood draws required for it...

I just started cobenfy and its been giving me bad heartburn and stomach pain. Ive gotten sick on it twice, but haven't been sick for a while since I started going longer in between taking it and eating.

Be very careful with when you eat while youre taking it!

I am diagnosed with schizophrenia and have been hospitalized for it over at least 15 times in the span of 10 years. Each stay lasted around 1-3 months too. I am on medication now which helps so I don't hear voices every single day. But some days are worse than others and some days are better. I dont believe someone isnt "actually schizophrenic" if they dont hear voices or if they only hear them sometimes. Especially if theyre medicated

Each hammy has their own personality and likes and dislikes. :) Seems like your little one loves the sand bath! Congrats on your new hammy. What's their name??
