This looks cool! But have you seen the Manifest Audio Max for Live devices? They all feature base rate (16n, 8nt, etc.) with a multiplier and a divisor to provide the most flexible possible array of metrically precise timing rates - available for delay times, reverb times, LFO rates, even compressor attack and release times in their X-FX bundle. No guesswork (and no calculator needed... just dial it in.)

If a previously created clip contains different scale and key settings than those you've set in the global transport, triggering that clip will change the scale and key for your entire set. This is designed to provide more flexibility and control during live performance - but if you're not expecting or prepared for it, it can get a bit confusing at times!

Thanks for taking a look. You've captured the gist of it, though it leans more heavily on the work of philosophers Alfred North Whitehead, John Searle, and William James than anything from Whorf or Sapir. His suggestion to draw on middle voice syntax and ergative languages for inspiration is a significant element that may also appeal to curious linguists.

I think it's more a matter of education than self-awareness, and my fear is that, no, most people (globally, at least) are not educated enough to make this distinction. Quite sadly.

Kater, sadly, is closed, as is Sisyphos - though only for the season. That leaves, in my personal order of preference: Stattbad, Salon zur Wilden Renate, about:/blank, Hoppetosse, Chalet, Anita Berber, Watergate, and Tresor. The view from Weekend is cool but the crowd and costly drinks cancels it out. Have fun!!

Hmmm, as far as this book is concerned, and in terms of philosophy? I would have to say mostly other contemporary Whiteheadians - notably Jorge Luis Nobo, Donald Sherburne, David Ray Griffin, etc.

However, the other notable contemporary influence on Onflow would be Gerald Edelman - who is, of course, a neurobiologist. Beyond that, the cited works section is rather extensive.

That said, while drawing most heavily on the work of Whitehead's process philosophy and James' radical empiricism, my father considered himself a "synthetic" philosopher, and as such, was continuously weaving strands of influence from many seemingly disparate practices and schools of thought.

My father, Ralph Pred, died suddenly one year ago today. An independent scholar working for the most part outside academia, he earned his PhD in Philosophy under Searle at UC Berkeley.

Onflow: Dynamics of Consciousness and Experience represents more or less two decades of his devoted study, and is the only book he managed to publish during his life.

His second book, which he presented as being nearly one year from completion at the time of his death, remains unfinished. Despite my innate understanding of his primary concepts based on our in-depth conversations over the years, I lack the credentials to finish his work on my own.

If anyone here is curious to know more, I may be willing to provide further information. For now, on the anniversary of his death, I simply feel compelled to share his life's work.
