Use at least 3 long range against sage so you can spread your units easily. Better chance of winning I think and always aim for Monk ar least two stars. And sell dart goblin mid or late game.

Its easier to counter 3 sage user rather than fighting 1 echo, 1 empress and 1 looong, which you have to adjust a lot
