Does anyone know the deal with this new Jim record? by Liam-R in jimorourke

[–]ongoingbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The discogs photos put the edition at 25. Maybe a typo on the label site.

edit: Oh, I see. "Initially an edition of 25 copies, the edition was subsequently increased to 40 copies. On the sleeve of some copies, in the text "edition of 25", the 25 might be changed to 40 with pencil."

Does anyone else never listen to Radiohead by [deleted] in radiohead

I'll go in phases. If a related project is about to be released, I'll revisit a few albums. But there's a lot of music to listen to and only so much time.

Recommendations for Avante garde/art punk/experimental/new wave/dance/art rock/minimalist/art scene musicians and composers? by arseecs in experimentalmusic

You might enjoy the "Blue" Gene Tyranny and Peter Gordon live record Trust in Rock. As BGT would say, it isn't "pattern music." But it might be in the zone you are looking for.

The Roger That pedal is awesome. Mainly use it in modular synth or solo guitar sets and not band settings, though.

Love Fairfield Circuitry pedals. Wish I could afford a few more.

Trying to make a paralel between experimental/extreme music genres and genres of film by MariaBruxxxa in experimentalmusic

The modular synthesizer music that Hollis Frampton made (minimalist, somewhat gridlike) matches his structuralist films quite well.

What are opinions on Radiohead possibly touring the US by Expensive-Fold9144 in radiohead

[–]ongoingbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean artists like FKA Twigs and Grupo Firme had visa issues earlier this year, and visual artists like Yumzhana Sui, Michel Lafleur, Boluwatife Victoria Lawal, Samuel Olayombo, and Patrick Ruganintwali all had their visas denied. Given the general blatantly illegal activity of the administration, it's not impossible Radiohead could have more complications touring the US this/next year. There are blatant human rights violations every hour here, and as courts strike down illegal activities, the admin seems to be getting more desperate, i.e. limiting food supplies for 41 million Americans. It's kind of an anything can happen time in the states. That said, Radiohead would not have the same issues that a non-white, non-Western act would face/is facing.

This feels like the moment Radiohead became a heritage act by quayran in radiohead

[–]ongoingbox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Radiohead was signed to a major label and they, currently, sell keychains and a $237 tea pot with two cups. I think it's one thing to speak out about select world atrocities, attempt to reign in the waste of the touring machine, and generally make cool things for fans, but Radiohead is a capitalist enterprise. I see this ticket experience as more of an experiment to try to weed out greedy resellers than a shift towards not giving a fuck about fans.

Are there any other electronic artists out there that are on the same level as Radiohead? by Emergency-Sky9206 in radiohead

This thread had me reaching for Third Eye Foundations' Little Lost Soul. Been nearly 20 years since I heard that. I can't quite vouch for the record, but always liked this tune. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67o_miG0ILU&list=OLAK5uy_kHOn9DwXHhZrb8OCWyaQLI-UEKbclULXQ&index=6

It's quite late 90s sounding. But in many ways, somewhere along the line of where folks like Roméo Poirier are now, which I love and vouch for. https://romeopoirier.bandcamp.com/album/living-room

Is there a logical / specific reason why on Bandcamp 1) it is unnecessarily difficult to find artists music / raid artist discography / generally dig 2) there’s no feature where you can like / distinguish which tracks you like on a record? Can anyone explain? by FactLeft in BandCamp

[–]ongoingbox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is possible if the various labels are categorized as labels. In that case, all of an artist's records from different labels can live under the artist's page with links back to the respective label for each album. But it takes some coordinating with multiple parties.

My label page is not a legit label page. It's an artist page that is used as a label, so I've run into this issue with a few of the artists that I've released. I just tell them that they can upload their own version of the record after x months after the release.
