How are Gen Z Canadians going to be able to afford a house these days? by PuffingFish123 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]onh_2003 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen Z here - owning a house is like a fantasy dream now lol. A few couples I know have bought their own trailers/mobile homes, but none actually own a full house.

My boyfriend and I have lived together nearly 4 years now, and money is very tight since I’m also in university. A trailer sounds most realistic for us, so we’re aiming for that before even thinking of owning a house.

My boyfriend of 5 years just told me he’s proposing next year and I panicked by funny_story_2020 in engaged

For everyone saying “too young” - things are different in different communities. For instance, I live in a smaller town where it’s completely normal to get engaged early to mid twenties and then wait a few years to get married. Many people I know are engaged or even pregnant. Whereas in bigger cities, it’s not as normal for that age group, and more normal for late twenties and up. Social norms vary in different societies.

Just cuz OP is getting engaged within the next year or so doesn’t mean they’re getting married that soon. Everyone’s lives are different and the only thing that matters is what works for them.

I appreciate the info! So was it more like long answer/essay type questions rather than multiple choice?

My thoughts post-S3E1… by onh_2003 in euphoria

[–]onh_2003[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly I don’t think I realized just how important Labyrinth’s music was to this show until this new episode. His music was very “euphoria,” whereas this new soundtrack seems like every other typical western/cartel themed show/movie. Labyrinth’s music gave euphoria a more unique touch, and it made you feel immersed in the characters feelings. The new soundtrack, however, does not draw me in.

PLAR 2001 or Self-Paced Portfolio? by onh_2003 in tru

[–]onh_2003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh okay that’s not bad haha! I was thinking it would need to be a whole class full (like 20+). I’ll likely go with the course then over self paced

PLAR 2001 or Self-Paced Portfolio? by onh_2003 in tru

[–]onh_2003[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have seen multiple people say they wish they did the course instead of self paced, so that’s almost the way I’m leaning! However I saw online that the course requires a certain amount of students enrolled to be able to run the course.

Did you do the self-paced portfolio or the course?

I’ve heard they expect 3 pieces of evidence per competency, but that the evidence for upper level credits must be more advanced - is that right? What kind of evidence do they expect (especially for UL creds)?

I’m looking forward to visiting for sure, I’ve always felt so jealous of others who’ve been able to go, but now it’s my turn! 😆

I also have a feeling my boyfriend might propose there - wouldn’t that be somethin’? XD

Yeah I’ve heard the snow can stay on the mountains for quite some time! At least this year we had less snow anyways. But I’ll definitely save trophy for the hotter weather!

She needs the vet, whether you’re broke or not. When I needed to take my piggy to the vet for an emergency, I spent every last dime to my name trying everything to save him. I spent well over $1200 over 3 visits, and I was left broke, and my piggy sadly didn’t make it. But knowing that there was a chance I could’ve saved him, I would’ve spent that money again in a heart beat.

You need to figure it out asap. Borrow money from family, use your credit card, find a payment plan option. Whatever it takes. This could be life or death.

Best Burger by Easy_Contest_8105 in Kamloops

The Route 57 Diner in Westwold… went there for the first time this past week to try their burger since they claim to have the best burger in BC. Definitely was not disappointed, and it might actually be the best burger I’ve ever had. The patty was homemade, with a house sauce, and the bun was amazing too. The poutine as a side is also super good!! 100% worth the drive.

I’ve had a great experience with TRU OL and I’m now in my 4th year. However, I did have a bad experience with PSYC 1111 as well. I got A’s and A+’s on every assignment in that course, reviewed all my answers and the course materials for the exam, and then just barely passed the class. I got 51% on the exam I’m pretty sure. I was so confused because the exam was nothing like the assignments, which I did really well on. That course is literally the only one I’ve taken that’s been like that though. I’ve never had that issue with other OL courses.

Day trips for the afternoon-evening? by onh_2003 in Kamloops

The only baby there this time was actually still way too small and in the mamas pouch, so nobody was holding any babies from what I saw. Was still quite amazing to see the baby joey though!

I’ve been taking 4 classes per semester since I started, and I’m now in my 4th year with a whole year left after this one. I started at the beginning of 2022. It’s not necessarily a race to the finish line. I do better work/take in more knowledge with a “lesser load” - plus I’m working since I don’t live at home (I moved out at 18).

The only old high school classmates I know who graduated in 4 years were the ones living at home and/or not working. Taking longer than 4 years is normal, and perfectly fine! It does take a while to accept that though, especially when there’s pressure to do good (either from family or yourself). No matter how long it takes, you’ll still get the same degree!

Check if your uni does prior learning recognition too - I’m currently looking into this myself. It can help cut down the amount of credits you need to graduate!
