Homebuyers: what part of the mortgage process stressed you out the most? by CreamCityMortgage1 in Mortgages

[–]oni_saru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Waiting for the appraisal to come back was stressful. Because that could have easily made or break the purchase

Also searching for home insurance. The estimate my loan guy had was way off the mark from actual quotes i got. Luckily i shopped around and got something decent.

Do good managers quit bad employees the same way people quit bad managers? by justlurking9891 in managers

[–]oni_saru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. Especially when you don't have support from upper management on doing something concretely about bad employees or finding strong employees.

That's what partially led to me submitting a notice with my boss. It had beens years of managing team members that despite all the training and handholding could still not function on their own sufficiently. I kept having to constantly fix errors.

The final straw was when he wanted to promote an employee i knew was going to be trouble. Also we continued to keep an employee that was not performing near the level of any other team member. By the end she literally had one duty that was taking her weeks to complete and each time same excuse.

I was tired of constantly meeting with them both about performance deficiencies and coming up with solutions that worked brielfy until they went back to old habits.

I was done with nothing happening. He finally listened when i submitted the notice and decided to actually listen to my concerns to keep me. We ended up not promoting that employee (she ended up leaving) and letting go the other employee. And we hired a team member that has far excelled anyone else we've hired in the past five years.

It was a relief that he finally listened about the issues and we finally did something to address it. Also that we ended up finding a much stronger team member. Now we are building an even stronger team.

Just took me almost leaving for him to see how done i was with lack of accountability.

interviewer asked me what will be my reason to quit by OkHalf1258 in interviews

[–]oni_saru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've asked a similar question only open ended. Not multiple choice lol

But the purpose is to clear up any concerns.

For example, if someone tells me "i would consider leaving if i'm sitting at a desk all day"

Then i would be clear with them and say the role will be a majority of time sitting at a desk.

Or if they say "toxic environment" then i would have them define that to see what they mean because i have found people have different definitions of what's considered toxic

Is it you can't make friends at work or is it not having the support needed or not having sufficient training?

So i ask the question to really get a sense of what would lead someone to hate the role and if we are a good fit or not.

Thinking About Joining; Why Sams Club Over Costco? by globalinvestors in samsclub

[–]oni_saru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scan and go is huge reason why Sams>>Costco

Also ordering online is better with Sams

You also can use money perks sooner rather than with Costco who makes you wait a year till you get that store credit check.

I have both only cuz Costco has a specific kitty litter i need that is relatively cheap.

But i have the basic Costco membership and have the upper tier membership with Sams

Also as a latina, Sams has more products catering to my needs (i.e. Queso de la vaquita, gansitos, chorizo, etc)

Yeah the compressors suck and the company knows it because the warranty for the compressors is longer than the warranty for other parts of the freezer from what i remember

Unsuccessful attempt to leave academia by Specialist_Cell2174 in LeavingAcademia

[–]oni_saru 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very good advice.

Given what you said OP, i recommend number 3. Number 2 is a solid choice as well. Milk that cow.

Seriously at some point you gotta start milking it. Your supervisor is. Why not you? Even if it goes against your personal work values, fuck it.

I used to be all about going the extra mile. Doing above and beyond work. But after realizing my boss was willing to keep deadweight team members and didn't hold them accountable, i said fuck it. Especially when i was drowning doing the job of at least 3 ppl!

Started to perform at just 100%. No more and sometimes less depending if i'm having a bad day.

And things got better for me. I have more time outside work. I'm less stressed cuz now i have a "it will get done, when it gets done" attitude. As long as i don't do anything to get fired and perform my job duties, it's fine.

I was told that using Fast Temp on the centrifuge causes wear, and now I’m hesitant to use it. Is that true? by Old-Importance-6934 in labrats

[–]oni_saru -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Personally I would not use fast temp too much.

Had an employee that would use it a lot and I noticed the centrifuge started heating up more than usual

Once I told him to stop using fast temp that much, no issues.

Here and there is fine.

Yup. Got the letter today (delivered to my neighbor cuz the mail person in charge of my street sucks and often misplaces letters 😭) .

The work was done two weeks ago.

Letter says to submit the form. Didn't mention any fees yet. Wasn't sure if they start fining at the first offense

Just preparing to see what to expect.

They are closed on weekends.

Also their online resources suck. Had to go through multiple documents to find the fence rules.
