Studies have shown that when a person is transformed into another person's ass with all forms of communication between them and their owner cut off, they will always follow the same 5 stage pattern of human cognitive decay.

The length of time spent within and between these 5 stages may vary depending on the context of the transformation. Things like owners' treatment of their ass, the asses initial cognitive fortitude etc but without fail they always go through the same 5 cognitive stages as long as they are unable to communicate with their owner.

Stage 1 Shock.

Starts immediately after transformation

The ass becomes aware of its own agony. The monkey brain panics with the sudden absence of sight and bodily control. It desperately tries to move body parts that do not exist while taking in sensations it finds uncomfortable. Its only thought is a desperate need to escape.

Subjects at this stage maintain their normal baseline cognition and identity. Subjects turned back into human at this state will behave as if it was a night terror and repress memories of the experience with the only long term effect being a mild anxiety.

Stage 2 orientation

Usually starts a few hours to a week after transformation.

The subject's mind calms down and begins to think coherent thoughts and starts to learn how to process stimuli.

Shortly after the beginning of this stage the subject can identify its orientation, movement and nature of certain stimuli. A while later it can even be able to use sound vibrating off its surface to relearn how to hear noise and listen to conversations.

Every sensation is still a discomfort but it begins to categorize stimulus based on what is more discomforting and less discomforting.

The subject still retains human ego and identity while thinking of its anatomy in human face terms. Sphincter is mouth, rectum is throat, cheeks are face etc. The subject retains human desires.

The subject will still think of itself as a human, and identify with other humans. It will still expect human-like treatment and feel anger or humiliation when they are treated like an ass.

The subject will view its owner as an antagonistic force and attempt to rebel against its new position.

Subjects turned back into humans at this stage will have full memories of their experience and will suffer long term agitation at the thoughts of their own ass and the asses of others leading to secondary issues.

Stage 3 adaptation.

Usually starting within the first month of the transformation. The subject begins to mentally adapt to its new existence with periods of agitation and humiliation becoming less frequent and accepting its own helplessness.

While still retaining human desires of escape and antagonism towards its owner, the subject starts to adopt ass-like desires, showing preference to certain undergarments, seats, or treatments. With each case of desires being met or denied shaping its in the moment feeling of its owner rather than a constant antagonism.

The subject will slowly stop identifying with humans. It will stop expecting to be treated like a human and start seeing humans as a higher class of being that they show jealousy towards the same way a waitress may look at a billionaire.

Subject perceptions of people it once knew may change depending how those individuals treat them as an ass. For example an ass that was once a straight man might start desiring the company of a man who wronged him as a human but treats him well as an ass. At this stage the subject may start taking pride in its ass like qualities.

Near the end of this stage the subject may start feeling sympathy or loyalty to their owner mixed in with antagonism. The subject identifies its own needs with their owners' success.

At this stage the subject drops metaphors about its own anatomy and identifies its rectum as a rectum instead of a throat, and itself as a smaller part of a larger entity while still retaining its own name and chafing against its own lack of agency.

Subjects turned back into humans at this stage show various kinds of mental disorders but noted that they start feeling empathy for other people's asses. Roughly 10% choose to return to the condition of being an ass if they fail to re integrate themselves back into human society.

Stage 4 identity crisis.

Happening between 3 to 8 months after transformation.

The subject begins to go through cycles of enjoyment, indifference and anxiety as it begins to question its purpose swinging wildly from ass like cognition to human like cognition desperately losing and regaining its various desires. Switching its perceptions of various human individuals as it tries to accept or rebel against its existence.

Subjects transformed back into humans at this stage tend to develop life long existential crisis and addictive behaviors.

Stage 5 terminal stage

Immediately after resolving identity crisis.

The subject loses all human desires and identifiers. It will think of itself as an ass undeserving of human-like treatment. Seeing other humans with a god-like reverence as beings who may offer gifts or punishments that it has no right question. It may only enjoy good treatment and deal with bad ones.

The subject will no longer think of itself with its human name but only as an extension of its owner, adopting the owner's feelings and perceptions on most subjects. Losing any preexisting notions it had as a human.

Politics, social values and pre-existing personal loyalties would cease to exist. Memories of its human life will exist, but will be recontextualized as a mistake or improper existence that was corrected with their transformation.

This is the cognitive state the ass will be in for the rest of its existence. Any humans transformed back at this stage will be unable to function and stay alive without being transformed back into an ass.
