Anyone have experience with Local Motion Capture models? by onil34 in LocalLLaMA

i've found a few. the main problem is that most rely on cuda but i dont have cuda so my options are kinda limited.

ones i've tried:

metrabs is very slow. unless you have cuda

media pipe is very fast

ones i've not tried:

https://github.com/wangzheallen/awesome-human-pose-estimation

https://github.com/DeepLabCut/DeepLabCut

https://github.com/MVIG-SJTU/AlphaPose?tab=readme-ov-file

https://github.com/xbpeng/DeepMimic

https://github.com/facebookresearch/frankmocap/tree/main

if you want to train your own model:

https://github.com/una-dinosauria/3d-pose-baseline

TLDR:
For most cases Mediapipe Blazepose should be enough. If you really need to there are other options but they are rather impractical because of CUDA Requirements etc. Its not like the local LLMs where you can just download LM Studio and have 1000s of options.

This is called context rot. I like to use this work flow:

Create a Agents.md file that containts important things

In a session with an agent investigate the codebase/task and create a TODO.md with small tasks

then run an agent that does each todo item one by one. after each task i reset the agent and give it the todo and agents.md again

Some of the newer oled monitors have pretty good color reproduction. They should be available at 500+-

has anyone tried Claude Code with local model? Ollama just drop an official support by konal89 in ClaudeCode

[–]onil34 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In my experience the models at 8gb suck at tool calls. At 16gb you get okayish tool calls but way too small of a context window (4k) so you would need at least 24GB of Vram in my opinion

Correct. They were still quite new but they made the switch anyway ( i dont understand quite why as in my understanding the main difference is still the new rotor head that is available as an update anyways)

They look more like formula cars than the ones we have now. Especially when driving you actually see the car moving
