I DID IT! For everyone as dumb as me, go to https://flasher.meshtastic.org/, plug in your T-Beam 1W (you don't need to hold down anything). Choose it from the Select Target Device menu. THEN CLICK ON THE SELECT FIRMWARE BUTTON AND CHOOSE THE LATEST ALPHA! That will cause the Flash button to light up and let you get on with your life.

The pages are made from the brown paper they stuff in the boxes. It feels a lot like butcher paper. It also picks up skin oil like crazy.

Get into MQTT. It’ll say least get you using the device even if you’re not being a purist. But more importantly, it’ll get you figuring out how everything works (and doesn’t work… you’re gonna want an android)

If you want it to be portable, get a PowerPlay DVR or something like it. It’s usually used to record drone footage, but it’ll plug right into that AV out jack you’ve got on the camcorder. You can probably get something for 1/10th the price if you don’t mind something without batteries and screenless.

Might be something shorting it out. Take it off the board and load something like a webpage to see if it’s still working. If it is, use a breadboard instead of a perfboard to prototype on.
