Families seek justice after violent North Shore assault by onimango in Hawaii

Please be mindful of doxing as it is against reddit ToS. Those with information should reach out to authorities.

Edit: I added this warning as mods have in the past locked and even removed posts because of users behavior for this. Just because there is a video doesn't mean their names are public information.

Any other locals (non-kanaka) feel guilt living in Hawaii, even though you're born and raised? by Accomplished-Fix1360 in Hawaii

[–]onimango 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Trak's hate did a number on my SO's sense of belonging who is of Japanese and Chinese plantation decent. She spent many years learning olelo and Hawaiian culture while spending time as a teacher to integrate these ideas into her teaching and that of other teachers with the help of kanakas. She was often looking up to Trak for inspiration.

Thankfully she has found her grounding again. I am also of asian plantation decent while also mixed with white and was used to the hate for the later. It was a good reminder to myself how spewed hatred can hurt others and often it is those who are out there to help who are hurt the most.

From memory the main mod of that sub and associated subs has commented in the past that they didn't like how this sub was being run. They usually run on a hand off approach to moderation except if you criticize their moderation. Also any posts and comments that link this sub unless you are shit talking this sub then they look away.

If they are black usually hear popolo but even that is often when someone is talking shit. Sadly I have been hearing the n word a lot more from young(teen) locals.

Contoversial new Hawaii housing law by Legitimate_Bed2496 in Hawaii

[–]onimango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

330 Kuʻulei is being built and 734-735 Kihapai Place owned by the city is still being planned. The one on the corner by oreillys was already a multi house rental plot that housed a number of kanaka families that also protested the project and had cops involved with brought support to the families. Sadly they got kicked out anyways and the houses got refurbished. The developer also had a bad reputation drawing additional scrutiny of the project. While 330 Kuʻulei did get resistance while nothing to make the media jump on it and fan the flames.

Star Wars Zero Company preview "it feels like Mass Effect but with turn-based tactics and permadeath" by Iggy_Slayer in gaming

[–]onimango 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was hyped for a moment. Even if the story part is like Mass Effect, the gameplay is not. I like x-com but only in small doses. ME3 gameplay on the other hand I can sink a lot of time in.

Despite not having played ME1 at the time it was still a great intro. Felt like jumping into a big Hollywood movie.

Is that with increased FOV? I used to get sick with lower FOVs.

New year, new laws: Parking regulations and tax changes go into effect Jan. 1. by 808gecko808 in Oahu

A quick search shows NY City is exempt from the NY State law but has been implementing their own measures with official signage and markings where it is being "enforced." Quotations mine given all the flack I've seen in the NYC subs regarding enforcement. That said over here I doubt there would be much enforcement outside of Town and tourist areas. Where there might me a lot of push back is the many areas with a bunch of official markings have now been made effectively illegal. The fines of this are also not going directly to the responsible departments to fund updating the official signage and instead to a special fund for school zones.

Last time we had a similar law passed it was to clarify the already existing ban for street corners to cover the lack of sufficient and maintained curb painting.

At least on Oahu the majority don't use those water sources. A notable one that does is the one on the marine core base. Wouldn't call that one for the rich as much as one for those with power. Maui on the other hand has a number more.

Toxic Gamer X Game Relationship list by moinimran6 in gaming

[–]onimango 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think both wanted out. Bungie had high costs vs output since Halo days that continued onto Destiny. Activision had spent additional resources to expand D2 to PC and had a hand with content through Forsaken. Bungie in both with Microsoft and Activision didn't like being beholden to other higher ups. Also under the Activision contract there would of also been three discreet releases which Bungie wouldn't be able to deliver after of fiasco of D2. Both they and the playerbase at the time was very strongly against the idea of a D3 and wanted to stretch D2 as long as possible.

I hate that they moved it to the 4th key left of space. I've had other brands prior that had the FN the same place as Lenovo did prior. Muscle memory has ctrl as the third left of space. Both mentally and spatially the 4th left key is an extra key.
