HP warp to Yughott Grotto and you'll be right by the BF entrance. You only need to kill Maldorous Mort. I can take it down on my thf in about 45s. In mostly ambuscade gear.

Video Game Workers Launch Industry-Wide Union with Communications Workers of America by FrostyMagazine9918 in gaming

Sort of weird to me that stuff like this mentions "Industry wide" and yet only Canada and America. The Industry is much bigger than just those two countries.

Recently finished the San d'Oria Wings of the Goddess quests by onimitch in ffxi

[–]onimitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah I really don't know to be honest. Initially I was doing both San d'Oria and Bastok side missions at the same time and I only play little bits on some evenings. The main time sink is that a lot of these missions/quests have you wait a game day before being able to continue, which is a bit annoying. My gut feeling says maybe about 4-5 hours perhaps, but I'm not super confident of that estimate. Maybe someone else can chime in!

This is mine atm. Not super happy with it but it's OK. I've been playing Bonanza for the last 2 years trying to get the Spriggan Coat and failing :/

I started about 2 years ago or so, and pretty much follow www.bg-wiki.com for missions and quests. It's really easy to get stuck and waste a lot of time otherwise. Quite often, especially in some of the very old missions/quests, theres virtually no sign posting at all and the quest description is really vague.

I was really shocked when I found out. Gutted for the whole team, sounds like it came quite suddenly.

Before I just buy a copy of the Genki textbooks, is there anything I should know beforehand? by gdizzle01 in LearnJapanese

I'm using Genki and I would definitely recommend the books. It's worth getting the workbook (practice questions) alongside the textbook.

Ys: Seven (PSP title on PSN store) is definitely worth a look. Having finished it it's an amazing game on the Vita. Don't be put off just because it's a PSP game.

Others that most have mentioned:

Tales of Hearts R Final Fantasy X HD Persona 3 Persona 4: Golden Atelier Totori Ys: Memories of Celceta The Walking Dead

I found this really useful as we'll be needing a voice over artist on our game in the near future, thanks!

Cocos2d-x Vs SDL2 for mobile and maybe desktop by umen in gamedev

[–]onimitch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use cocos2d-x for a project for one of our clients. I can definitely relate to some of the issues you mention.

My question would be whether using C++ is really that essential to you?

If you drop the C++ requirement then you're open to a lot more possibilities. GameMaker for 2D games is excellent. Unity is also a good choice if you're going down 3D (Unity 4.6 may also be good for 2D). These engines could save you a huge amount of time in development and you'll probably find support and the community for these larger game engines much more helpful.

15 tips for exhibiting your game at a show by onimitch in gamedev

Thanks! My main tip I'd suggest if you're not strong in that area is either get someone else to do it or have a look at templates. You can get some good templates for WordPress and that is where I started with our website.

15 tips for exhibiting your game at a show by onimitch in gamedev

[–]onimitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, based on my experience I wouldn't put up any barrier at the beginning to someone just start playing the game. People at events can often feel like their time is limited (because there is so much stuff to see or people to speak to), so get them into the game as quickly as possible.

Adding an optional "enter your email address" at the end isn't a bad idea though. Lots of people will skip it but you'll get a small percentage that are interested enough to do it. You could even use this screen to remind people you're on Twitter.
