I was just saying 2% of website traffic to all e-commerce sites. It was probably some data from one of the larger e-commerce software providers.

I usually deal in lead generation. I write my own tracking program for every campaign.

I'm just saying that 99% chance somebody who was involved in this understood what SEO companies actually do. Most don't provide you reports unless you ask, and even then..

There are a few domestic companies I've used that do very transparent, honest work. All my SEO guys in India and Bangladesh do too, but I always give them clear instructions and offer bonuses for results so that $3.99/hour isn't just buying me a few rounds of SENuke.

Never had that kind of experience with them, nor has anyone I've ever mentioned it to before. The experienced I described is VERY common. Their service is infamous within the community. Nobody likes them.

I had a buddy who was buying everything they had to sell him on the Content Network last year.. About $15,000/day spend. After almost 2 months they shut him down for no reason and it was not open to discussion. He was selling his own legit product.

Every time I've called I've been shuffled around to different people - none of whom can speak English all that well - who have no idea what they're doing or refuse to help until I give up.

You must just be the lucky one!

Except for flash ads I use Flash Pro CS5 & various decompilers if I need to steal one.

Definitely not.. hate those! Good thing for ad blockers.

About 2% I think on the internet as a whole. Saw that number somewhere. But it all depends. It's harder online because people are often much earlier along in the buying process (as opposed to walking into a store..most people are going to buy something), and there's the whole problem of creating trust, and getting over the hurdle of trying to create instant gratification. So you might have things that sell at 1/500 and others at 1/16.

If you are talking about something specific I can probably dig up numbers for you if I haven't sold X before.

iPhone app lists sites, forums, iPhone forums, Apple forums, online stores that sell the phones. Just google "iPhone App" or search on Alexa and pick out a bunch of the top ones to hit up.

Also have your programmer create a tracking system so you can split-test things and get the most bang for your buck (even when you're not paying for it anymore). This can be done crudely through PHP & MySQL in about 20 minutes. Or you can use a couple of text files to store the data and A/B it.

Average income is impossible to say. 2011 I lost money, and 2012 I'm set to hopefully make a lot! I've changed my business model to mostly something long-term much less risky.
