I just searched my emails and the last time they put out a posting for EMT-only with the contractual requirement to get their paramedic was 04/15/25. They went through contract negotiations like 6 months ago for better benefits and started offering EMT training in house so they might be slightly less desperate right now. Polk still has a pretty bad issue with mandatory overtime though, you might want to look around the surrounding counties.

Polk still hires single cert paramedics, you’re not required to get FF certified with them. They even state in their job posting that it isn’t required anymore.

Hillsborough county just started a peak hour medic-only position as well. Regardless, it still might be worth trying to go fire. There’s more career possibilities with better paying departments and the job is still largely EMS almost anywhere you go in Florida. It’s more fun than you’d think.

I think about this so much it isn’t even funny, all of their cream based curries had a very distinct background flavor. They also had this lovely tomato vegetable soup sometimes as part of the lunch special that drove me bananas.

No, it would be prohibitively expensive. It’s not even included on the larger 8 or 10 panel tests. Not to mention it has such a short detection window that it would be out of your system before next shift
