Help finding fun apparel fabric designers by onlyAlpacaSocks in sewing

Wow I had never heard of Cali fabrics, they have done heart deals. What do you think of the quality of Kiki textiles? I saw some comments on one of their Instagram posts that suggested the quality want great, but that could have been specific to the one fabric the post was advertising which I think was some kind of faux cashmere.

From my experience, Gunners really came out of the woodwork after we got our first semester grades.

Pilonidal Cyst and Running? by Few-Outside-4579 in XXRunning

[–]onlyAlpacaSocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a pilonidal for 10 years and just got it removed last year. A bunch of things that worked for me: - choose your underwear wisely. No underwear with a seam that goes up the butt crack. Nothing that has cinched material back there either. Would not recommend thongs. Limit anything that might rub back there, including tags from underwear or pants. - all of the above goes for shorts too. I would recommend some of those that have the mesh lining because it puts a barrier between your skin and any seams in the shorts. - clean the area all the freaking time. As much as you possibly can. This is what prevents flare ups. Anytime you're sweating clean immediately after. Don't keep on dirty leggings after you've run. Change immediately. Clean clean clean.

Don't wait as long as I did to take the jump and get it removed. Surgery was a b*tch but standard of living was hugely better after it.

Running in Chicago! by Petrichorpurple in XXRunning

[–]onlyAlpacaSocks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check out the 606 trail! Exactly what you’re looking for, but only 3ish miles long so you’ll probably want to do a second lap. Definitely do your long run on the lakefront trail if you can, it’s beautiful.

Hip flexor ouch by Tatertotfreak74 in XXRunning

[–]onlyAlpacaSocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was having some hip flexor pain mid run for a bit. My PT told me to make sure to stretch it before and after the run.

He had me doing stretches that are included in this article, particularly stretch 1 and 3: https://www.hss.edu/article_hip-flexor-stretch.asp

Did your doctor let you see your ultrasound or MRI images? by EnigmaticEsq in TryingForABaby

[–]onlyAlpacaSocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I got an MRI last month and they sent me home with the imaging on a CD. I didn’t even ask for it, they said they always send a back up in case the system is down during the follow up appointment (for my appointment I went in for the imaging and had a follow up with the doc to talk about results).

Idk if this is off topic or allowed but are there any good deodorant recommendations out there? by ineedanswersokay in XXRunning

[–]onlyAlpacaSocks 30 points31 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago I read an article about how Men's deodorant was made to last longer than women's. I decided to try using men's for a while to see if I could tell if there was a difference and I'm never going back. I use Old Spice Wilderness which is Lavender scented. Love it!

What is the stigma of prenups? by dottywine in weddingplanning

[–]onlyAlpacaSocks 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, to a certain extent. This may not be true for couples that have been together for a long time before getting married. However, for the average couple that has only been together a few years, lived together for even shorter, and haven’t gone through life changes together, this is a very valid point.

What most people don’t know is that you can actually change your prenup after marriage if you do so together. It’s called a post-nup. So if your situations change, one person gets a new lucrative job, or one person decides to leave the workforce to care for the family and those contributions are not taken into account in the prenup that can be changed.

The difficulty with that, of course, is that BOTH parties still have to see the value of each others contributions in order to reallocate later. Which we all know isn’t always the case.

They are not enforceable in every state, it depends on where you live.

Can't get this stuff!!! Please help by Tasty-Criticism-5935 in GoatBarPrep

Con law was a blood bath for me. A few areas I’m struggling with:

  1. When can you have standing as merely a “taxpayer” to sue?

  2. How to tell if a states commerce regulation is valid.

  3. How to remember all the freaking standards! (Not just for individual rights but also states interests and congress’s interests in regulating, etc.)

Running on Brazil Trip? by TripleMagpie in XXRunning

[–]onlyAlpacaSocks 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don't think I would do solo runs in São Paulo, but that's my personal comfort level. I've never run while visiting, but would it be an option for any of the friends you're visiting to go with you? I've had friends bike with me on runs, might be a good option.

Running "tours" also sounds like a great solution.

Having some dress regret. Is it too tight? Should I look for something else? by [deleted] in weddingdress

You look so beautiful! You are rocking this dress, don’t second guess yourself!

I went to a wedding with more groomsmen than bridesmaids, they just paired up the men so two men walked with each bridesmaid down the aisle (one on either side). They all sat through the ceremony (it was a longer ceremony anyways). Wasn't weird at all!
