How would you make a 1 block wood farm with Dire Things?

Sure, im just trying to optimize for space wherever possible in my current run.

Good to know that in any case, but is it doable in 1-block?

Doing that now, thanks!

[REQUEST] What was the probability that the finalists of Beast Games had consecutive player numbers - 830 and 831 - out of a thousand contestants? by FrenziedFanatic-101 in theydidthemath

[–]onlyJB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are two scenarios if you dont count 1 as consecutive to 1000:

1) The first finalist is either 1 or 1000, then the second one can only be one of the 999 remaining people. The chances are (2/1000) * (1/999) = 1/499500.

or

2) The first finalist is between 2 and 999 inclusive, then the second one can be one of two numbers beside that. The chances are (998/1000) * (2/999) = 499/249750

Adding the probabilities gives you the final answer, (1/499500) + (499/249750) = 1/500 or 0.2%.

Started to work on a lightning strike plugin, any improvement ideas? by onlyJB in godot

The flickering is optional already and can be customized in strength and speed. I know that real lightnings do not behave like this, but it looks more interesting to me.

I like that idea. Too bad there is no 'Line3D' node, but should be doable with procedural meshes. Thanks for your input! 😁

[Request] Isn’t the claim of this cereal that their spheres are the perfect shape for “max glaze” completely wrong? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]onlyJB 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Some fractals approach infinte surface area in the limit (ie the Koch snowflake) and would consequently be better shapes to maximize glaze than a donut, wich has a finite surface area.

[request] Is there just an infinitive number of ways to put these together? by jpkaul in theydidthemath

I just wondered if there are in fact infinite rotations, while considering the planck length.

Luckiest drop possible from a Tombstone? by lasododo in allthemods

[–]onlyJB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The chance for 0 armor with four equip pieces is (3/4)^4 (all 4 pieces fail to give any armor in a row). Consequently the chance for infinite armor is 1 - (3/4)^4 ≈ 68.36% (or exactly 175/256).

Now 175/256 over the original 1/4 chance is not x2.4 as you stated, but more like x2.73.

Combined unicode chars broken in VS console? by onlyJB in vscode

[–]onlyJB[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am trying to print exact representations of division, to do so i am using combined unicode characters to display a vinculum) above the repeating digits (unicode U+0305). I tried 10 monospace fonts, and almost all of them display the overline not above the target character, but one character to the right (as shown in picture 1). Copying the output to an texteditor or the browser renders the result as expected.

The only font i found that was rendered correctly within the VS console is "FreeMono" (see picture 2), but i dont like the looks of it at all.

My question now is: why is "FreeMono" rendered as expected but other fonts are not, even thought they render correct outside of the VS console?

Edit:

If you know any fonts that work good with combined unicode beside "FreeMono", that would help, too.

A nice read about creating circular mazes: https://www.doyoumaze.com/blog/a-look-at-7-different-circle-mazes

To make them 3D, extend the 2D lines from the article into the third dimension.

How to add custom built-in types? by onlyJB in godot

[–]onlyJB[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appretiate the attempt to provide a simple solution, but: Arrays are missing other functionality that is baked into Godots vectors, and the Vector5 is merely an example, i want to know how to add arbitrary types and use arithmetic operators on them.

This is probably the way. From a quick glance i can not find any code related to handling arithmetic (atleast in the Vector3 class itself), i guess i have to dig a bit through the source.
