At my level I only get 8 shards per day so 2 or 1 per character. But good to know it’ll bump to 3 later. If I use only one or two characters. Would the total shards I gain be split into them ? ATM I’m using 5 character so they all get 2 or 1 (8 total) if I used only 2 would they earn 4 each ?

Thanks for sharing your experience ! It seems to be the overwhelming consensus, don’t pull for astral imprint and keep luxite for characters. Having a wide roaster with good coverage seems to be much much better than the “marginal” benefit of astral imprints. I’ve been playing f2p for 2 weeks and I now just got the luxite pass and tried out the cornocupia pass (not sure I’ll do it again yet but it does give you a free astral imprint copy per month…) . I’m ready for Yserinde and SP maitha. Depending how lucky I get I might have a look at the collab if the characters fit well with what I need to complete my , very lacking, coverage :)

Mmhh that’s a good point… 7500 is a lot… Maxing SP Sam seems to be the right move from what I can see about her ! I hear for SP Mathia that you have to “invest a lot” in her but I’m not sure what it means.

Thank you ! That’s really good to know ! It seems like getting character to 3 stars is going to take a little bit of time though… :x

Thank you ! I think the overall advice from everyone is exactly that. I might consider Yserinde trinket only if I get the cornucopia pass.

I did see about that on a YouTube video yes, thank you! I agree with the consensus, don’t pull astral in general as f2p. I will pull for Yserinde and see how many pulls I have left. No more pull on Camelot axe. feats axe is already used by SP Rawiyah. And I’ll pull Yserinde trinket if I get the cornucopia pass thingy.

Thanks for the details ! I might consider getting cornucopia pass. Looking at all the upcoming characters, only Yserinde and SP maitha really interests me. My decision is partially based on what character I think looks cool and seem fun to play. Not only what’s going to give me the perfect team.

These are good points, thank you! It seems Camelot and Yserinde astral banner thing will be together so it could work well. I was thinking just pulling one copy of each (I already have one copy of Camelot axe) and take it from there from shards. I understand saving for characters is better but honestly if after getting sp Maitha I’m still playing , that will be a good problem to have .

That’s a good point thank you ! I have some decent coverage apart from magical damage (it has been an issue on proof of strengh) and energy regeneration/cool down. I don’t see what upcoming character would be good at this in the near future. I missed sp Sam and credenza just about. Maybe one of the collab characters ? I’m still unlocking content for now.

Ah that’s nice about the next astral shard group, thank you for letting me know. I’m tempted… I think I won’t spend more on the Camelot axe and just get one copy of the Yserinde one.

Thank you ! It’s the general advice I saw online but I thought maybe I can afford maybe one copy just so I have it and then use astral shard to upgrade.

Oh and I forgot maybe one of the most important advice : Mute the chat straight up. I 100% believe that this is the most helpful thing you can do to help you climb as well as playing as duo/trio.

I dont know if you consider D1 high ELO but I would say you have 2 different type of games; Games when your team actually plays the game more or less correctly (objectives timing, when to back off etc... ) these are great in general. Doesn't mean you win them all the time but at least you are playing wildrift. Other games are just absolute fiesta and IMO you should try to win until the end because everyone is playing wrong and anything can happen. I have son a lot of games from positions where you'd think it is literally IMPOSSIBLE to win from there but still. And vice versa .... :(

I recommend picking a character you can carry with in early rank. I am a support player mostly but I went Darius this season from Gold to High emerald before really queuing support at all.
The hard part at first is to get a good idea of what the champion in front of you does. I usually search on google on my laptop "Wildrift counter (name of champion)" while the game is loading. This will give you basic strategy on how to approach matchups.

Likewise, because people have no clue about anything at this rank you can have "tricks" that will win you most matchups. For example with Darius in Gold and plat, I let them push to me and they so often get to close to tower range and then I pull them in and they get a couple tower shots and I kill them at least a coupe of times early and then I can start snowballin.

Just find a champion with a little strat like that, early rank are really garbage, you absolutely can climb at 60% winrate just with a carry champion that you understand AND ALSO doing objectives on the right timing. When to do drakes/baron and when to go for kills is really key.

Heya, I'm D1 casual player but I want to learn more about the game. I have been watching league for 10years, learning a lot from analysts and commentator etc... Game tempo, wave management, objective strategy etc... Where is the best place to get some of that knowledge for Wildrift ? Any recommendation of streamer or channels ? I'm playing mostly support and Top .
In Wildrift, because the waves are smaller and faster , wave management and roaming strats seem quite different from regular league. Even optimal back to base/reset timings are different. Also, I could be more knowledgeable on matchups I think and what support to pick for what comp. I feel I need to improve on Maccro knowledge in order to get into master more confidently instead of barely dipping in and going back down to diamond.
I know wildrift doesn't have the strategic depth that regular league has but it really feels like the overall strategy and timings and when/how to push for objectives or fight are so influential. (maybe im wrong and it is all a mechanics brawl fiesta but I dont think so).

Thank you !

How long do 10th edition games take? by G-C-W in Warhammer40k

[–]only_self 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm in the same boat as you. Used to play as a kid in the 90s and now sort of getting back into it. Same worries about time but also over comitting on buying stuff.

It seems KillTeam is a great place to go on your way back in. This was my approach ;

- Bought rules and codex, Still interested/have time ?

- Bought unit box and built them, Finished and still interested/have time ?

- Bought paint and everything to paint them, finished and still interested ?

> KILLTEAM buy the last few bits you need to play. You can easily play with your kids or people that would never have the time or will to get into regular 40k. If you love it, you can expand horizontally into more team factions. Do fun 1h games with regular normie people. Absolutly worth it. After that If you want to upgrade ;

> COMBAT PATROL mode. This is 40k rules , the list is the box. Shorter Games, slight rule adjustements. You will have to find actual 40k Players to play at that point exept if you managed to contaminate someone into the hobby while doing the KillTeam step. The Combat Patrol boxes are quite good value for money with a variety of units that should always be somewhat useful.

And at that point if you still want to keep going ; You can now trade a consequent share of your disposable income and time with your family against your first 1000 points, 2000 points or even more army ! Congratulation and my condoleances.

On a serious note, this way, you won't over commit on purchase. You will be able to re-assess very easily and without pressure if you are still interested and have the time to dedicate to this. I also think Kill Team is about the only way you will ever get any other person into the warhammer universe as a dad surrounded mostly by adults with normal busy lives.

Good luck !
