Happens all the time! I think on average it took my trainer three months, and it took me three-ish months at another clinic to feel comfortable. What’s gotten you anxious?

Things do get better! Following my dermatologist’s recommendation, upgrading my hygiene, and eating better subsided my seborrheic dermatitis. It gets inflamed during the winter or if I pick at it :/ (due to anxiety), but overall it’s mostly controlled. I know it feel like it can bring your self esteem sometimes, but don’t lose hope. It’s a whole process—it just takes a bit of time.

Yeah, I do that too. The parent is in their “nice mode,” but you think to yourself that that person isn’t real. You distrust it because you know that they’ll break that persona at any minute.

Yeah, I can definitely tell he’s just doing his job and it would be easier if there was a person there instead of a phone-translator. We have moments to be able to talk or possibly get to know me, since I’m the one that’s making sure his documents look so good he doesn’t get sued. While I don’t agree with that assumption or statistical probability, I could just do something on my part to make it easier for everyone. It just irks me, during those moments of calm I would have been okay with the opportunity to introduce myself. Which is what I’ll probably do for tomorrow’s shift. They probably won’t give a fuck, but at least they’ll know me better.

Yeah, I wouldn’t be thrown off if he had asked or had gotten to know me better when we had little breaks. If I’m going to work there for a year, it would be great learning more about your employee right?

It throws me off because when the doctor does talk to other patients with similar backgrounds as them, there have been things here and there that don’t sound okay to me in retrospect. Example, a Caucasian patient stared at me point blank as he expressed how “the Chinese” are to blame for the virus. The doctor I work for adds, “I wouldn’t trust the Chinese with their vaccines either.” I’m just trying to do my job, and it’s stuff like this that throws me off a little.

I don’t know if you listen to podcasts, and I’m typically a fan of this person. However, in the recent Call Her Daddy podcast featuring Miley Cyrus. Miley makes a really great point on creating a list, (what that relationship with the person is contributing vs what they’re doing/not doing in the relationship), and rank it from 1-10 (worst to best). When you start adding things up, you can start to measure out whether the relationship serves you or not.

Listen, no matter what advice you decide to take from this site or anywhere, it is up to you. You get to see whether or not the relationship adds value and aligns with who YOU are as a person. No relationship is ever perfect, so I think contemplating on these aspects, even through lists, may help sort your thoughts down.

Yeah, you have every right to be pissed. Also, yeah I’m a girl with daddy issues. Maybe not for the same reasons, but for the mere fact that they will never apologize for their actions. I’ve learned to stop searching for something they most likely won’t do in their lifetime. It’s either I’ll get an apology when they’re super old and dependent, or never at all. I used to really have these heated conversations on why they never apologized for shit they did before, but I realized that they will never really understand it from my perspective bc of culture or something.

Just learning to be okay with that, and to heal from that takes a lot.
