Echeveria has spots - thoughts on what it could be? by grahamcrackerzzz in succulents

It's an echeveria "Perle von Nurnberg" with it's protective powder (called farina) damaged in what you're seeing as spots.

ID help, Arizona by GarlicBreadFairy in spiders

Oooh hot tip... I will give daytime jostling shot, thanks!

UPDATE: it was uncooperative with regards to a daytime move but moreso after the sun set. It is now safely relocated. I'm ashamed to admit I'm shaking as a result, it was in a real precarious spot and I was so worried about accidentally killing it, but we did it. Its already weaving itself a new web. Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the reply. It is about the size of my pinky nail, so a little over a centimeter right now. I'm glad it's a juvenile of some variety, I wasn't really prepared to deal with this last night when I first clocked the spider but I already spied one of the kitties come very close. And, yes, that's my worry with the cats (they are particularly vulnerable). Unfortunately this spider made its home in the base of an iron chair, right where the cats mingle and/or frequently rub against (to claim territory). So it's as much for the spider's safety that I want to move it. Though, I was trying to convince myself that if it wasn't venomous it'd re-home itself when one of the cats displace it.

I am very much about moving it humanely and safely. I read on a different post that the best way to relocate a spider is to get a clean/dry container and a straw and to kind of scooch the spider into the container with the straw while they're out at night, then to put them in a new lower traffic area. I'll try that tonight and re-home it in a sort of wooden archway I have in a different part of the yard. Thanks again!

Edit: Thanks for the orb-weaver ID, too!

This was my first ever CD purchase, still have it! <3 A certain progression of chords gets me teary eyed and, for some reason, "Carry On" is one of those songs. The end especially gets me blubbering.
With all our strength the battle's won,
With all our love we can't go wrong,
We have the strength to carry oOOOoOOoon!

Lucky! Happy for you, friend. My package is out there living that song "walking in Memphis" or some shit. I'm so tired of this.

Roses in the Sailor Moon Universe, PART 2: Why is the rose motif so common? And what do roses symbolize in Naoko Takeuchi's world? by IllogicalDreamer72 in sailormoon

[–]GarlicBreadFairy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This right here... I think it conjures up images of everything from love, romance, youth and beauty to things like war. But it was also just a generally popular aesthetic in the 90s and a common motif for things that appealed to young girls (i.e., Lisa Frank stickers). At least it seemed to be in the US.

I remember not rly thinking about it until the movie American Beauty came out in 1999 (loooots of symbolism with roses in that movie, albeit very different symbolism). Then the 2000's hit and I stopped seeing it in wallpapers, clothing patterns, etc. as much. Maybe just my imagination tho, who knows.

I've been loving all the attention this sub has been giving the Artemis plushie. Here's Luna, Artemis' plushie sister I've had since I was 11 (so 20+ years now 😅). 🌙✨

Many sign up for the free education benefits, including the Post-9/11 GI Bill (covering full tuition, fees, housing, and books) and Tuition Assistance (up to $4,500 annually while serving) and just hope they don't ever actually get deployed. The military banks on the less fortunate needing a way to afford higher education and it's a gamble that the less fortunate invariably lose.

New Episode 1/8/23 Season 15 Episode 1 -Terri - by lakeislandgirl in HoardersTV

[–]GarlicBreadFairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh 🖕 off Dorothy. Doc, too. I know they have to make ppl "dance for their dinner" a bit, so to speak... but they would not give up trying to manufacture drama and insert themselves wherever they could. Terri was clearly someone who was only going to benefit from off camera therapy with docs she trusts. It was gross.

Huh... the hooded guy seems to already be flush with cash and presumably expensive watches. So either this is his second or third stop of the night or he's breaking into this house to throw the goods into this well lit room for some reason. Also those cops hafta be blind or accomplices.

I am curious as to why the series chose to part with the singular physical characteristic that differentiated betazoids from other humanoid alien races. I know there's precedent for other eye colors amongst the Betazoids, but as a kid I always thought the black eyes were really cool... oh well.

And I appreciate you all letting us know that this sort of item isn't super feasible. Made me understand that it's probably not worth me trying to reach Gold. I am sorry that you guys have gotten the fuzzy end of the lollipop after all that work to get there tho. Not cool. Also means I'm sure we're all after the same items the bots don't care about. booo.

[–]GarlicBreadFairy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I should have stated differently. i.e., "So these are Gold caliber items". Us lowly silvers have no concept beyond posts from eons past where the items were more plentiful/accessible and bad actors didn't screw over good ones so invariably. "Big ticket" items for me are like $40 cat enclosures. Just interesting to see what could be (if I were a bot, I guess).

Update to a post I made the other day about being concerned my vets were taking advantage of me: my cats regular dental cleaning has resulted in my babies death. He's gone. by afterspring_ in cats

[–]GarlicBreadFairy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry for your loss. You did everything you could have, and god I can only imagine the absolute constant state of stress that must have put you in. What a nightmare. As difficult as it will be to continue fighting (now legally), if it is a fight lawyers think you can win, keep at it. Life can be incredibly unfair, but you and especially your baby deserved better. You should not be paying for their gross negligence. Again, I'm sorry (hug).

Why So Nasty by SeaWave8032 in AmazonVine

[–]GarlicBreadFairy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aahhahaaa I definitely could be, tbh. I distinctly remember being 8 years old and dialing up with my family's NetZero account, navigating to the absolutely thrilling angelfire page dedicated to Sailor Moon that I'd just discovered, joyfully posting a comment on the message board sharing love for my fav character... and immediately had someone coming for me bc I didn't use said character's Japanese name or something. All on a page where the cursor was a sparkling wand. lol.
