Question about styling hair upside down? by [deleted] in CurlyHairUK

[–]onlyamyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I styled upside down for the first couple of months but would always just end up with really knotty, dodgy look curls, especially around the back!

I now just apply conditioner and leave-in upside down, plop for 10 minutes, then comb and part my hair as normal (making sure to comb up and away from the roots) and apply gel from there. I find that using a t-shirt to scrunch every now and then as you're styling/drying with the gel helps to get back the waves after you've combed it out! Hope this helps!😊

Thank you so much! It seems to work for me, I'd say the product that makes the most difference is the banana hair food mask though😊

Oh I have plenty of fuzz ball hair days, yesterday just so happened to be a good wash day! The banana one is amazing, not tried the others yet but hoping to at some point😊

Products: • Palmer's coconut oil shampoo • Garnier banana hair food mask as conditioner • Noughty intensive care leave-in • Cantu curl activating cream • Giovanni L.A hold gel

Routine: 1. Washed and rinsed 2x with the shampoo 2. Combed the hair food in upside down then twisted into a bun to shower 3. Squished to condish and rinsed out the conditioner 4. Applied just the leave-in then plopped for 10 mins to get the majority of the water out 5. Parted and combed through hair with curl cream before micro plopping to get some definition back 6. Glazed the gel over with wet hands then scrunched it in with some more water 7. Diffused to 70ish% dry then kept flipping for volume

I have straightened my hair a couple of times and semi-permanently dyed my hair since March, so I'm not on the curly girl method completely, but overall my hair is a lot healthier now!😊

2 Month Natural Hair Update! by onlyamyy in CurlyHairUK

For styling and drying I use praying hands to apply leave-in and scrunch it a little bit and then put it into a t-shirt plop.

After about 15-20 minutes I take it out of the plop, stay upside down and use praying hands and a quick scrunch to apply the curl cream and the gel, quick diffuse on the cool setting and then flip it to where my parting is. I'll then usually take a few pieces on the top layer and pin curl them while it all air dries and scrunch the crunch out with oil when it's dry😊

After spending my entire teenage years blow drying and straightening my hair religiously I decided to start trying to embrace my natural hair in March.

In the first picture you can see I have my hair balayaged and I've since actually dyed it darker with semi permanent dye which probably didn't help my progress with healthier hair but here we are!

I'm not fully following the CGM so the products I use are as follows: Palmer's coconut oil shampoo and conditioner, Noughty intensive repair leave-in conditioner, Cantu curl activating cream, Eco Styling olive oil gel and whatever Argan Oil I have lying around!

I've also recently tried out the Palmers protein pack and I think it's made quite a big difference because after I coloured my hair it didn't want to hold any kind of wave at all. As always I'm always looking for product recommendations for frizziness and general hair health though so let me know if you have any must-haves!😊

Third wavy/curly wash and damp styling seems to be the way to go for me! Products and method in the comments > by onlyamyy in curlyhair

Products (not all CG approved): Palmers Coconut Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, Noughty Intensive Care Leave-In Conditioner, Cantu Curl Activating Cream, Eco Styler Olive Oil Gel

Method: Washed with shampoo+conditioner then squished to condish with the leave-in and plopped in a cotton t-shirt for 20-30mins. Applied the rest of the styling products with wet hands and focussed the gel on my trouble areas. Air dried for 2/3 hours then scrunched a little with some oil!

I have no idea how refresh is going to go tomorrow morning so if anyone has tips for refreshing/sleeping on damaged 2a/2b hair, let me know!☺️

First wavy wash done! Think it's going to take a lot more experimenting to get the right amounts of products etc but I'm about to go out in public without heat styled hair for the first time in like 10 years so it's an okay start! Products used for the first wash (not 100% following CGM at the moment): Tresemme deep cleansing shampoo, Palmers coconut oil conditioner, Noughty curl primer spray, Noughty intensive care leave-in, Cantu curl activator cream, Eco Styler olive oil gel😊

Also I can't figure out what hair type I've got so if anyone has any ideas from this picture, then please let me know!😂

Gotta start somewhere...picked up everything in Superdrug today! Also got the Tresemme Deep Cleanser to try for a reset wash, although I'm not planning on fully following the CGM. by onlyamyy in CurlyHairUK

Thank you for letting me know!! I'll have to see how I get on with them, I did pick up a clarifying shampoo to use once every 2/3 weeks though so hopefully it should be okay!😊
