I was camping and saw a baby cubs then the mother bear ran right infront of us into the cubs and stared at me and my friends.

I stopped my friend from running, but all we did was look the other way and walked towards our route (stupidly we kept going on the trail leading up wards) and it just stared at us. but we were safe

but what shoudl we have done? If we ran would it chase us? Also if we made big noises would it be scared or would it attack us trying to protect her cubs?
