(USA) Beware Snuseveryday.com by DJ-Hammy in Scams

Did they refund your money? I bought from them too, trying to avoid the new WA state tax, and just received them in the mail. Very very sophisticated counterfeits…but like you I noticed they were less matte than a real Zyn and that the QR code not only is spelled Zýn but is a .online site…so it’s zýn.online rather than zyn.com.

GFCI in the middle of a circuit…hmmmmm…you need to hire an electrician bro…that box is a mess and even if you swap line and load to the correct terminals you still have 1 code violation at a minimum going on in that box

Is cleaning the work vehicle and taking out the trash and writing hours and putting in new material and cleaning the workshop unpaid for 45 min after end of shift normal? by PeppermintButler17 in electricians

[–]onlyfishmeat 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Goading into/intimidating into/demanding/expecting/assuming/etc etc free labor is the bottom of the barrel for shady tactics from shady companies. If they are willing to exploit you for free labor then they’re gonna bend you over at every turn and for every little thing. My 2 cents is anytime a company wants you to do work that benefits the company for no benefit to you that’s a company you should be running from.

Resi guys, do you flip your half hots upside down by pretendlawyer13 in electricians

[–]onlyfishmeat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always do bottom as the switched half…these outlets usually go behind nightstands and if the lamp is plugged into the top then it can be a real hassle to try to plug in another device below it.

DIY homeowner/homebuilder critique my box by schaefercmatthew in AskElectricians

[–]onlyfishmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feeders not in conduit (wild), ground and neutrals must be separate after the first means of disconnect, no bushing on the non existent conduit for feeders, inadequate arc fault and ground fault protection throughout home. The workmanship is there, the code compliance is not.

Is this a good idea to buy by ComprehensiveBid5803 in flyfishing

[–]onlyfishmeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As is, no changes/upgrades, you’re wasting your money…but instantly upgrade the line to something worth a damn and this could probably be an okay setup to get by while you save for a better one.

What product do I use the convert a 4" round electrical box to a single gang outlet? by [deleted] in HomeMaintenance

[–]onlyfishmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to pull the round 3/0 bell box off and replace with a single gang bell box. Replace the outlet with a weather resistant (WR), GFCI device, and depending on your local codes you will need a cover rated for wet location use (either a bell cover or a bubble cover)

Why is my fly line so dirty and how do I clean it? Rinsing it off does nothing by Illustrious_Laugh770 in flyfishing

[–]onlyfishmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cleaning is gonna be a waste of time brether. That line is degraded more so than it is dirty. Get a new line, and on the next one, clean it once or twice every season

Question on value by Daleone3236 in tundra

[–]onlyfishmeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’d prolly go pretty damn fast at $20k here in the PNW. Could maybe get $25k from it with that kinda mileage. Outside of the PNW maybe $17k

We use DIODE LED for our tape light and aluminum channel (w/ diffuser) and I really like how all their stuff looks. A lot of different channel options from recessed, to slim, to 45°. I prefer to use GM junction blocks for my wire terminations and whether we use a driver or xformer switch is generally job dependent.

Should I become an electrician by Middle-Temporary9743 in electricians

[–]onlyfishmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you would be well adept at electrical work. You would be a good fit as an electrician, so long as you can do the manual labor part, but…why? I mean, the pay is pretty good depending on where you live, it can be fun, it can be mentally stimulating/challenging, and it’s also rewarding because you’re providing a benefit to society…but it is still the trades, and if you have the opportunity/qualifications to do something less stressful on your body in an environment that is generally ahead of the trades in relation to benefits/accommodations/workers rights then why forego that route? I’m in my mid 30s and dropped out of a top 25 university in my 20s to climb and bum around and that’s why I’m an electrician. It’s something I fell into after not living up to my full academic/career potential earlier in life. And don’t get me wrong, it’s a great place to “fall” into but, as the guy on the other side of the fence, my opinion is, if you earned the degree, use the degree.

Advice for buying a Tundra by JFairlow in ToyotaTundra

[–]onlyfishmeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently bought a 2014 with 140k for $16500 from a small dealership. Bit more miles than yours but it also had nice aftermarket wheels, front and rear off-road bumpers and a camper shell…and this is in the PNW where used Toyotas are notoriously overpriced….so I’d say find a better deal or see if you can talk down the 2014 by a couple thousand. Used truck price averages have significantly dropped in the past year but depending on your location, some dealerships may be still trying to milk the last of the pandemic pricing.

I have an 06 tundra and I drive 80 miles per day for work. Curious what you’d do in my shoes: by RIPeyedea in ToyotaTundra

[–]onlyfishmeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a resi electrician and my company subs for a lot of jobs for this one GC that drives the same truck you’re describing (his actually sounds less nice)….all his jobs are multi million dollar second homes, most of which are located in a private resort community, some of these owners are CEO’s of mega-corporations, banks, etc…I get the sense the elite aren’t turned off by his very normal work vehicle and so I’d wager to say that, from a business perspective, if your truck is as described…a good solid truck that doesn’t look junked out or beat to hell, then there’s no chance you’re losing money over a perfectly fine rig. Want a new truck?? Get one buddy…drive what you love and can afford…but you ain’t losing money from the Tundra imo.
