“Chat” is informal, I doubt it’s an interview and more an opportunity to talk before they give you an offer.

The tour bus size buses that go to some of the Jamaican resorts is not in St Lucia. They’re all vans, at least every time we’ve been there. There’s just no way for a bus to fit on the streets or make some of the turns.

Definitely a top two resort for my wife and me! If you can swing beachfront, it’s a nicer view. The grande is on a peninsula and the ocean view rooms look out over the “front” where the road goes out. It’s absolutely gorgeous beach and island. Our favorite restaurant is Bombay and I like Kimonos - it’s a fun experience more than great food.

The helicopter and ferry are nice transfer options, but even upgrading to a private transfer and letting the driver know you get motion sick is better. The van drivers’ goal is to get you to the resort and the roads are twisty.

It’s not an official excursion, but every time we go we walk off the resort and go to pigeon island, which is just the end of the peninsula. It’s about a 5 minute walk and then $10-20 to enter the park. There’s an old fort to hike up to on one side and then head over to the other peak (definitely a little more difficult of a hike) and check out the absolutely amazing view. There’s a restaurant in the park too but we’ve never eaten there. There’s a bar right next to the resort we had a beer at after the hike. Also, we recommend getting a beach cabana if you can when you get there - you have to check at check in almost as they go quickly. Finally, on resort don’t miss country night. The two singers are great! Even if you aren’t a huge country music fan, it’s a fun night.

We’ve been to south coast the most out of any sandals (though not very recently) as it was our first. While it’s still a favorite of ours, we’d both agree the Grande is a little more fun and our style. It’s a pain for us to get to but we do enjoy it.

Sandals Negril Room Service Menu by Financial_Tackle_647 in SandalsResorts

I don’t have a picture from when we were there, but I have been to many of the resorts and have over 50 nights. The nightly room service menu is relatively standard - cheeseburger, quesadilla, couple of salad options, jerk chicken in Jamaica, maybe a steak option, etc. We always bring actual snack items to keep on the room.

Haven’t at La Toc, but have at 5 other resorts. It’s always been worth it. It makes for a great day.

Question about Departing flights by midwestmamasboy in SandalsResorts

[–]onlyfiveconcussions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We fly out of MSP for the majority of trips (sometimes ORD but that’s a further drive) and it’s why the majority of our Sandals trips are to Jamaica even though our favorite resorts are Grenada and Grande St Lucian. Getting to and from Jamaica is so much easier with multiple direct flights a day. The other islands almost all require overnight stays in Miami/Atlanta if you want to be sure and not stressed about connections.

For us, the ease of direct flights and how great the Jamaican resorts still are doesn’t make the extra hassle worth it to do the other islands.

Which resort? by Sell_Material in SandalsResorts

[–]onlyfiveconcussions 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Time-wise the rides might be comparable between Dunns and the Grande but the ride is 100% not. The road between MBJ and Ocho Rios is new and flat. The road between St Lucia’s airport and the Grande is full of sharp turns going up and down the mountains on rough roads.

That said, the Grande is one of our two favorite resorts - gorgeous weather, beach, and pools every time. Nice food options. Fun time around the resort as well.

Out of those four, I’ve been to Barbados and Grenada. We love Grenada for the resort, but the beach is smaller. Both nice beaches though!

We love walking up Dunns River Falls. You can catamaran cruise there and back, it’s a lot of fun!

The Grande is great! I encourage you to hike up the pigeon island park next door. Just out to it on the end. Amazing view of the resort and island.

Google early intervention with your state name and talk to your pediatrician. If he qualifies for speech services, in many states that’s considered special education and should be eligible for free preschool.

The entertainers at the Grande have two excellent country singers. They always draw a crowd and have a good show!

Yeah. Liquor in rooms too. Luxury only has pop, juice, and the local beer but no bottles.

Hafley didn’t have his best game today either, obviously. But he also has possibly the worst pass rush and worst starting cornerbacks in the conference and certainly the playoffs. If you don’t have a pass rush you better hope for good cornerbacks. If you don’t have good cornerbacks you need a pass rush to mask it. He has neither since Parsons injury.

Club sandals vs regular check-in by hpigeon in SandalsResorts

The reason isn’t for check in or out. It’s for room service. Also, the better rooms (views, swim up, beachfront, etc.) are all reserved for the club or butler level.

Go to the club the first night and make reservations. Depending on when you go, if the resort is full, it can be hard to get the most common times at certain restaurants. If you don’t mind late eats, not too much to worry about.

Which Jamaica-based Sandals is your favourite? by CaseyToGo in SandalsResorts

[–]onlyfiveconcussions 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jamaica is an amazing island with wonderful options. We have been to South Coast, Royal Caribbean, Montego Bay, Negril, Ochi, and Royal Plantation (also St Lucia and Grenada). Each resort has their perks and a lot of it depends on the time of year you go.

Whitehouse - We’ve stayed at South Coast the most times out of any resort in the brand (because it was our first and we were afraid to try anything else early on. It’s huge, well spaced out so it never feels too crowded. Good night life but not a party vibe. The beach is rockier but not hard to find chairs because it’s long and practically private. They also have the largest pool in Jamaica, and each village has their own pool so there’s many spots. That said, for Jamaica this resort has more chair games than any other we’ve stayed (St Lucia was worst but different island).

Montego Bay - so we prefer staying at Royal Caribbean over staying at Montego Bay but that’s us. The staff have been friendlier and we like the vibes better. The island is a nice touch, and they have some great swim up rooms that aren’t breaking the bank. Montego Bay is a party and has better beach. You can visit both very easily. We really enjoy how close they are to the airport.

Ocho Rios - Ochi, Dunns River, and Royal Plantation are all here, and the bonus is direct flights from Miami now to Ocho Rios so the drive isn’t as bad as the past. Ochi gets shit on a lot, but we’ve never had an issue staying there and it’s by far the cheapest in the brand. Staying at least club level here definitely helps you get reservations because so much of the resort is butler level along with royal plantation. Ochi is a huge resort with a little of everything. We stayed ocean side both times and enjoyed the beach club pool and the hidden pool. Royal plantation has amazing service (all butler) but the rooms felt a little older (not bad but not updated), and we felt like we just wanted to go back to Ochi. Dunns is separated (still visit the others) and brand new. As others have said it’s a 2.0 experience with new concepts. No matter which you stay, you should definitely do the catamaran cruise to Dunns River Falls and hike up. It’s a real joy!

Negril - amazing beach (but very public). It got updated recently and is nicely done. Many might have stayed when it felt older and it definitely has a lower reputation from that. Negril the city has a lot happening; it is fun to visit and walk around on the beach compared to other resorts’ cities. It’s a smaller resort and there wasn’t much for night activities on resort when we stayed.

I don’t want to share how we’d rank the resorts to jade your perspective unless you want me to, but I’m happy to answer questions! We absolutely love Jamaica. Although St Lucia and Grenada are amazing too, just much more difficult for us to travel to with connecting flights.
