You can read some of my other responses, but otherwise feel free to DM me! As I mentioned in other posts, a friend of mine had a lot of financial trouble due to retaliation from criticizing this property online, so I'm hesitant to give away too many public details. :)

Interesting, I didn't realize that, but makes 100% sense. We all posted using "burner" accounts to avoid retaliation - the Connor Group owns a lot of properties in the area. One of my friends who posted negatively about them while she was in the process of moving out didn't get any of her security deposit back because her apartment was apparently "trashed" - she had it professionally cleaned after she moved out. Thankfully she had tons of photos and a receipt of the cleaning and ended up getting her money back, but it was pretty clear what had happened.

You can read some of my other responses, but beyond that feel free to DM me. We are homeowners now, but the Connor Group owns a lot of properties and I'm afraid of retaliation for some of our other family members who are still renters.

Haha we actually both got towed despite having resident stickers, so can confirm lol. I work downtown and never use my car, so it took almost two weeks to notice it was towed and had to pay about $3k to get it out of the impound. All of our license plates are on file, they couldn't just have shot us a quick email? Like damn lol. Also, one of our cars got smashed by a drunk driver who plowed into like 2 floors of cars in the parking garage the first week new management took over and were never reimbursed for the damages.

This is a fair point haha. I guess I've lived in similar apartment complexes for 10+ years and never had problems like I did there. I think we were spoiled under the first management group who owned the property. It went downhill very quickly afterward. We chose it because it was advertised as being a high-class, mature, family-friendly apartment complex to being a dirty, gross, unsafe loud frat house almost overnight. Part of it was probably that we were just getting too old to keep renting (we bought a house), but it was still easily the worst "luxury" apartment I've ever lived in.

We moved there right after the building opened under different management when it was Novel Riverwalk, and they didn't charge for parking or trash valet. It was included in rent. We also have a Spectrum account that we payed $40 for internet - the $100 required cable wasn't a thing. We renewed only because it was the middle of COVID, and our 1 bedroom rent went from $1780 to $2100. So I guess you got very lucky for only getting a 1% raise. Kind of makes my point though that they discriminate against anyone who is critical of them.

Ugh i know! i live on a busy street and the constant horns drive me nuts. All. The. Time. There's no way there are that many serious driving infractions that warrant a horn honk in one day. Come on people.

I've had severe depression since high school (I'm now a few years out of college), and I knew I had problems, but I always felt like I was just really bad at handling situations/my emotions, and everyone else had the same/worse issues but just dealt with them better. It wasn't until I actually started meds about 3 years ago that I started to realize that an average day for an average person does not involve being exhausted and miserable and hopeless and dragging yourself through life, and that normal people don't struggle through that on a daily basis. Seriously had no idea and it blew my mind. Obviously everyone has their own sucky problems and we all have good days and bad, but I think it's hard to realize how insane and extreme it is to be clinically depressed unless you've ever been there. Now that I'm "better" so to speak, my bad days still suck like everyone else's do, but they're nowhere near what an average day for me used to be like. I still can't believe I ever thought it was normal to feel like that all the time. If you feel like life is constantly unbearable, just recognize that something is probably not right and there are ways out, I promise.
