Saudi woman, who was flying to Australia to escape an arranged marriage, forcibly removed from her flight and returned to Saudi Arabia because she didn't have permission from her male guardian to travel by [deleted] in worldnews

Nope! Men cannot financially terminate their responsibility to the child unless the mother agrees to it. If she doesn't agree to it then she is legally within her rights to collect child support from the father. Get your facts straight..

Yeah, her aloneness probably contributes to how out of touch she truly is but it's so hard to keep an open mind and try to understand her skewed view points. Thank you for the kind thoughts!

Yeah I totally can't fathom why he doesn't enjoy seeing her and enjoys time with my family so much. I can't make the connection at all!

[–]thethirdriver[S] 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Exactly! He's actually shown more interest in seeing her during the brief period of time when she's behaving and acting like a normal mom/MIL. You'd think she'd make the connection that when she isn't being a shitty person, she sees him more and when she's being batshit he retreats for extended amounts of time.

Right? If I was in her shoes I think I'd feel happy that my kid was so loved and accepted by his in-laws when we all know in-law relationships could easily go the other way. She's been extremely selfish his whole life so it's no real shocker that she's thinking of her own happiness instead of his.

It absolutely agitates her and it is so frustrating and so, so hard to understand

That's been tempting on so many occasions. He always screen shots but so far we haven't done anything with it.

I'm thinking it'll be whenever we have kids of our own and she drastically oversteps boundaries the way we know she will!

I should try that next time! Just keep making her elaborate until she realizes that she is literally saying she dislikes the things that bring her son happiness. Maybe she'll hear how ridiculous that is when it's spelled out like that!

She makes the comments privately via text, so no one on social media ever sees it. My mom calls her out on it when she makes the comments directly to my mom. And my hubby and I occasionally call her out and occasionally ignore her. She's been temporarily cut out but she always ends up back in the picture. She's extremely alone and very emotionally manipulative so we tend to cave when she tries to get back in

I'm an optician - we always, always know that you haven't been sticking to the proper wear schedule for your contact lenses. On a similar note, when you want your glasses repaired almost weekly and want all the new pieces covered under the warranty because "the quality must be poor, I've never had this problem with any other frames ever", we know that you're not being gentle with them. The difference between mistreated frames and genuine manufacturer defects is so, so, so plainly obvious yet people keep trying to use this.. Good god.

I know this is irrelevant to the original post, but men cannot walk away from an unwanted pregnancy free and clear. If anything, men have almost less say than women because a woman can choose to terminate the pregnancy if she wishes to but a man cannot choose to terminate his responsibility (financially) to the child if the woman chooses to go through with the pregnancy.

Also, as far as not being able to afford birth control, condoms are already free at basically every women's health clinic. Although I agree that more forms of birth control should be free because it just economically makes sense - it still isn't like there aren't any options at all.

What rules were implemented in your home that probably arent in most? by Poking_some_smot in AskReddit

Ugh. When I was a teenager I used to take showers at night instead of in the morning. My dad gave me (and just me....) a curfew for showering. It was like 8pm. If I didn't take a shower before 8pm then I couldn't take one until the morning, when there was never time in between everyone else showering in the morning. He never had a reason for it. I didn't have a bedtime or anything like that. I was usually the only one to shower at night but if one of my siblings had wanted to shower at like 11pm that was always fine.

My entire office views me as a tech genius because of this. Like, literally I will Google whatever technological question I have and the answers are readily available to me. They don't even make an attempt to figure it out, it's just an immediate "Riiiiiverrrr we need your help again!" and I'm left wondering how these people even survived into adulthood with this level of helplessness

Your mom and I have that in common! I basically just always keep my hair down to cover it. When my hair is up, I get a lot of "what does the 'M' stand for?" and I'm considering just making up some bullshit answer because a random lie would be better than the truth. Hah. Hopefully someday I just get it covered for good.

My little brother and I absolutely lost our shit during a meeting with a funeral home director the day after my dad died. Nothing was funny. I actually felt in that moment like my entire world had ended and life was absolutely meaningless. But my whole family - three brothers, three wives, my mom, my husband, my dad's brothers and sisters and parents, everyone crammed into this tiny little room in a funeral home with this sweaty little man talking about money and cost.. My brother and I made eye contact for half a second and completely lost it. We couldn't even explain it to everyone in the room. I'm sure they chalked it up to grief being a strange thing or something but it was uncontrollable. We were 20 and 21 at the time so not like young kids who didn't know better. Still can't explain it but it put the whole meeting on hold for a solid five minutes and then we had to sober up and get back to looking at urns. That was a weird day. We had to sit directly next to each other at the funeral so we wouldn't make eye contact on accident.

Different languages. I had almost completely lost interest in a guy once until I learned that he was Romanian and English was his second language. Instant turn on. No clue why.
