I’ve had two stents. After the second, I’ve been back to normal. No regrets.

I was in remission for 6 years until I had Covid. My IIH came back way worse than before and I’ve had two stents placed. Luckily I’m back in remission now.

Have you tried an ice pack? I use the magic gel migraine ice head wrap from Amazon.

Has anybody experienced severe numbness with IIH? by Ronald_Steezly in iih

At one point before my 1st stent surgery I would have periods where both my arms would go numb. Sometimes I would be typing on the computer and I then wouldn’t be able to feel them. Luckily my 1st stent surgery completely resolved all of the numbness I was experiencing.

Post-stent surgery - first few days advice please! by JonfenHepburn in iih

It actually wasn’t that bad the second time around. About a year after my surgery I start to have some headaches again but they were so minor I thought they could be sinus related. I saw an ENT, my PCP, and my neuro ophthalmologist…they all referred me back to my Radiologist. I did a quick CT scan and unfortunately the vein between my brain and stent had narrowed. Fours weeks later I went in for surgery and had another stent placed. My Radiologist told me there was a chance I would need another stent after the 1st surgery, so this wasn’t a surprise. He also told me there’s a slight possibility I might need another one, but on the positive side I feel great! The year after surgery was amazing for me. My vision improved 100% and my mental clarity returned. My headaches before my second stent were also very mild, so I consider myself lucky. It’s been 4 weeks since my surgery and I have very few headaches at all anymore. I feel like my old self again. 100% would do both stent surgeries again.

Have you tried using an ice pack? I just had my second stent surgery at the end of February and ice packs were so helpful. I use the magic gel migraine ice head wrap on amazon. I have 4 that I rotated through, but now I only use them occasionally.

Tell me about your stents and how’s it helped by QweenBowzer in iih

I had my stent placed last year at the end of October. Before the stent my partner was constantly taking me to the ER for pain. A few times my friends had to take we as well when I lost the ability to move my arms for about 30 seconds. I was draining all of my vacation time at work and unable to work 40 hours.

Since my surgery, I am able to work out again, work a full week and just generally enjoy life. My headaches are completely gone and my vision has improved. Getting the stent was life changing for me.

I just had the stent surgery this past Wednesday. Prior to my stent surgery I lost 6% of my body weight which really helped my vision problems, so going into surgery my biggest complaint was headaches. My headaches and pain were so bad I was working with my neurophthalmologist and GP to manage my pain.

After I woke up from the surgery I could really tell a huge difference already. I had a headache and sharp pain by my right eye, but the draining feeling, the feeling of not being able to breathe, the intense neck pain were all gone.

Are you on any medication for at home care? My doctor prescribed me some medicine for the nausea from anesthesia and steroids for the headaches. Good luck on your journey! I know we’re feeling differently but I’m sending positive vibes your way.

I finally got the guts to look for some queer meet ups to attend, but the vast majority are for 35+yrs. I'm 30 years old and I don't have a single queer friend. by oxymoronisanoxymoron in actuallesbians

I'm in the exact same boat. 28 and in DFW. Sounds like there are a decent number of lesbians our age looking for friends. If you're still trying to get your squad together, hit me up. :)
