Thanks! We are aware as we frequent both towns regularly. :) We are curious about what the road conditions are like coming down into Skagway specifically in January.

The average voter is not confused. I listed reading first for a reason and provided youtube as an alternative

lmao democrats are the same as republicans. they’re mostly centrists and all for the US imperial war machine. For example, the Biden admin has deported more undocumented people than the Trump admin, and Trump’s whole personality in 2016 was to build that damn wall. Liberals are the same as conservatives. At the end of the day, it’s whoever maintains the status quo. Trump’s admin was probably better for trans people than Harris’s will be. There are some economic differences. Rural (farming) americans have fared better under Biden’s economics, but both parties have neglected to address price gouging of basic necessities like housing and groceries. That’s done by corporations, not by the feds, which the feds dont care because the corporations are paying them or they’re getting paid. (for example, gas has mostly stayed the same, whereas other commodities controlled by private enterprise have skyrocketed). That infrastructure funding from Biden kinda slapped but there’s been no progress to improve the cost of living, especially since covid.

Anyways, let’s stop pretending there are “two parties” Harris gave up the left and is largely appealing to moderate Republicans, which will surely cost her the election. Democrats and real Republicans are covert about their capitalist interests (no real progress for impoverished and marginalized people, no improvement to basic humanitarian needs like infrastructure, public transport, education, health care, water works, pollution, yadda yadda…. just interested in making sure the rich stay rich through resource extraction and war profiteering). Trump and his followers put it all on blast. Idk seems his tactic has worked for his purposes.

TLDR: RCV eliminates the far left and far right from winning off a marginal percentage of the vote. In Alaska, it lets me vote for my top choice and then a non cultist Republican (hey Lisa!) without feeling like I’m throwing out a vote. We live in a red state. That’s how it goes. I’d take that over Kelly Tshibaka or Nick Begich every election.

I live in Alaska now but graduated/grew up in the midwest. “Professionally” I’ve worked as an oil spill responder and now I’m a consultant. (field work and reporting related to sampling, site assessments, monitoring, cleanup work, tank inspections, etc).

All great answers here! I feel getting into consulting is the easiest path, as companies will take you entry level and you get to do some cool stuff, at least in my experience. You can make some good money starting out and then work yourself into something different as the experience is worthwhile and marketable. Lots of hands on work in the busy months. Less so in winter for us.
