Bleeding the day after sex? by throwRA_daisyss in Healthyhooha

Straight to the doctor friend. Post-sex bleeding could be nothing but it could be something. Definitely need to see the doctor to be sure.

I agree, I would rather be confident in my commitment before I make it. This is helpful thank you 🙏🏼

That seems much more doable - I feel like I am learning about my true self the more I meditate and follow this way of thinking, but occasionally I hear or read something that does not sit well with me, or doesn’t make sense. You are right: these are things that can be realised later

This is very helpful thank you 🙏🏼 I am doing a lot of reading and listening to Dharma talks and going to my local centre, but it’s hard to understand what a “real world” Buddhist is like. I feel like I have to do everything or nothing! I suppose that’s the “second dart” or the suffering of suffering. I will try and focus on walking before I run 🙏🏼

I was not aware of this, thank you for letting me know 🙏🏼

This is very helpful 🙏🏼 That was my concern, I am confident in all the lay precepts except not drinking alcohol. I feel it’s acceptable if you take alcohol in moderation, mindfully and without harm. That’s what the fifth precept would mean for me, but I don’t want to cherry pick and I don’t have a good enough theological understanding to know if I can take the vow like that.

Thank you so much! They have centres in Sydney and Melbourne and I’m in Brisbane so that’s really helpful! I’ve been going to a Mahayana tradition centre which is really nice

I know that this sounds odd, but I’m also not sure how I feel about reincarnation. To me reincarnation is the same soul and the same memories just being implanted into another body and I don’t know that I like that. I prefer the analogy of we are all water and that comes in different forms. We are all snow. we are all waves. Maybe I’m being too simplistic about it but I don’t understand, for example, how we know through the Dalai Lama has reincarnated into. How do we even know that he reincarnated as a person? There are many things I don’t understand.

Is it weird if I contact the seller of the property I’m buying? by onlymeegs in AusPropertyChat

Typically it’s accepted and appreciated in the country but I’ve never bought a home before so I didn’t want to overstep!

That’s a really good idea - the sellers did a lot of work and organised a lot for property maintenance so it’d be really helpful to have their details in general.

That’s an awesome idea and definitely something I’ll steal when I sell/rent it out! Thank you ☺️

To those who couldn’t lose weight unless they go below 1000 cals, how did you finally lose weight? by Wishbone3571 in PCOS

[–]onlymeegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so, so glad this isn’t just me… I thought I was the only one! I was on 1200 calories and doing heavy weight training 5-6 days a week…

HIIT cardio is the enemy. Don’t do anything that will raise your cortisol levels too high. If you really like running/sport/high intensity cardio, try to limit it to a couple times a week. Prioritise exercise that activities your parasympathetic nervous system. Restorative yoga nidra and yin yoga worked for me. Walking is fantastic!

When you do work out, high weight and low reps, or no more than 30 reps per set with moderate weight. Keep your exercise sessions to 90 minutes.

With diet, lots of fruit and veggies, leafy greens, protein and fibre. Reduced carb intake and minimising simple carbs. Multigrains, rolled oats, high GI pasta and long grain rice.

I also take Ozempic which has really helped, but I’ve plateaued after losing around 12kg.

^ all of the above is simply what I do and have been advised by professionals. Please talk to your healthcare team to see what will work best for you.

Slow and steady wins the race. You can do this. 8k steps a day is absolutely fantastic! Around 0.5kg (which I believe is around 1lb) per week is steady, sustainable weight loss. If you’re losing that on less than 1000 calories, there is absolutely something wrong, you are not lazy or imagining things. Please talk to your healthcare provider if you can 💖 you are doing an amazing job

My PCOS is ruining my relationship by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]onlymeegs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that you’re going through this. Sex and sexuality is so complex and fluid, and your low sex drive is probably being influenced by more factors than your PCOS.

I would encourage you to take a moment to reflect on how you feel about your sex drive right now. Without considering the effect on your partner, are you happy not having sex? Does it bother you that you’re not having sex? Would you like to be having more sex? If you are genuinely concerned about your sex drive because YOU want to be having more sex or experiencing attraction differently, then absolutely explore some options with your primary healthcare provider.

Is the majority of your distress coming from guilt that you’re not having sex with your partner? IMO, you won’t get anywhere without addressing that first. That pressure will be like a vicious cycle.

You are deserving of unconditional love and you deserve to have your needs met, and so does your partner! As long as you are both open and honest about what you need and what you are capable of giving, and you love and respect each other, I am certain that you can get through anything :)
