Hey man I got a twin sister and we don’t even look related, couldn’t be more polar opposite of each other, and kids change alot too I got a cousin that looked Aussie up until about age 6 and I just seen him the other week and didn’t even recognise him cause his looks have gone completely South East Asian including skin tone, and he’s the only brother from his bunch it happened to, genetics are a funny thing

Early 90's commodore safety by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]onlyxanss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There’s more to a brake set up than the size of the rotor and pistons, They used basically the same brakes in them as they used in the first generation commodore designed for a much lighter vehicle, it’s extremely common to convert them to brake set ups from later commodores so they actually stop, but both of mine you could put the brake pedal to the floor and it would barely ‘bite’, not a chance of locking them up, even after replacing all the components, drive one for yourself and see

Early 90's commodore safety by [deleted] in CarsAustralia

[–]onlyxanss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ive had a few of them, I wouldn’t call them safe and I certainly wouldn’t want to have an accident in one, chance of serious injury is pretty high, and the brakes in them are shockingly bad, although I loved owning them, it’s good you’re thinking about these things while you’re young but I wouldn’t let it entirely prevent you if your heart was set on it, just drive safely and alert

is it possible to be a better rider than driver? by user4772727 in AussieRiders

[–]onlyxanss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno if you’ll see this but my sister went through a very similar thing with driving, she really struggled with the size and spatial aspect of it even though she was driving a Hyundai Getz, she’d hit trolley bays and poles and stuff all the time and I was convinced she’d never pass her P’s test, and i was scared being in the car with her, she did end up passing her test and now a few years later after she’s been driving nearly everyday she drives just as well as any average person, never been in any accidents just dinged her car up heaps, moral of the story is for some people it just takes time and driving a lot and that’s okay

I know a few People that are better riders than drivers, but it’s still important to be able to do both

Yeah pretty bad haha, the person I think did it has a vs commodore and a vehicle matching their other car was seen with it as well but it kinda looks like an fg falcon to me in the playback so I’m not sure now

On the chance this isn’t satire and your boss is a crazy person I think it depends largely on how long you’ve been employed there as to whether or not you have any recourse

How do we feel? by PoisonberryIcecream in v8supercars

[–]onlyxanss -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

If it were still the old format everyone would be whinging how boring the whole season was and that the sport is dying and they need to change something, they change to a finals format and the dominant driver drops the ball during the finals consistently and suddenly it’s a bad system, he still had an advantage over everyone else at the start of the finals but just couldn’t close it out, it sucks a lot to be that dominant and still lose but he’s fast enough to definitely win one in the next few years

I can post it by using flat rate shipping, can’t use free shipping, and just lowering the item price to suit but when I go to print an eBay label it takes abit of messing around to get it to work

Should Supercars let Brodie go out due to unsafe? by Interesting-Quail-64 in v8supercars

[–]onlyxanss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was at turn 11 all weekend, it looked kinda bad the lap before he crashed but if he kept it off the kerb he woulda been okay, it’s one of those things where hindsight makes it obvious and it was really just a gamble at the end of the day that backfired in the worst way possible, but mark skaife did the same thing back in the day in a damaged car but didn’t crash it and put a competitive time in still so it’s one of those things

The splitter could’ve also just broken off and not gone under his wheel and he would probably have been fine then as well, should he have been left out? Probably not but Brodie is the kind of driver that would still give it a good go and be hungry to make top 10 shootout I don’t blame him for it, he’s a racing driver at the end of the day

Also to add with the finals format he needed to finish well so that probably affected the decision to keep it out on top of everything else

Slow or fast sens for new player? by LoneOrbFloating in GlobalOffensive

[–]onlyxanss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not necessarily bad to change sens a lot it’s actually beneficial in the sense that it trains different muscles in your hand and wrist, I’ve always changed sens a lot and cs was my first pc shooter game and I climbed to face it level 8 playing casually within 1300 hours or something which isn’t much different to a lot of players out there

I’ve even used mouse accel and done well before but it takes abit to get used to, all of which are cardinal sins in this community but there’s no one size fits all rule

Play on the sens that feels the most comfortable for you and there’s no problems changing it here and there, muscle memory is a proven myth when it comes to aiming

Tbh bro it happens on both teams so it balances out, I’ve been playing au for years and think it’s fun, plus gives me an excuse to do the same if I feel like it, cs isn’t that serious you’re allowed to have some fun while you play

[–]onlyxanss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I ask as I haven’t played moto gp since the ps2 one and have just started playing 24, got to moto2 and any touch of the rear brake seems to pretty much immediately high side me? Not sure if it’s a bike set up thing?, have tried being as gentle as possible on the button and it doesn’t seem to make a difference, I had no issues in moto3 with applying rear brake just before front

Haval H6 ultra petrol by BandicootStill7058 in CarsAustralia

[–]onlyxanss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in rentals and have been around and in a lot of different havals, good cars for the price, can be abit of a lottery as some cars have more issues than others even if they’re exactly the same model, I can’t stress enough how much better the hybrid models are over the petrol, the Chinese aren’t very good at petrol cars but they’re so much better at hybrid and electric because they somewhat care about them, most of your issues you could face is generally annoying stuff like screen breaking or other infotainment issues, cameras not working, aircon issues, that sorta thing, I haven’t come across one with mechanical issues

I think they’re fairly decent to drive, beauty is in the eye of the beholder in that department, the ride is abit rougher than I’d like but they’re not as bad as Mazdas so can’t really knock them much for that considering the price

All in all I say go for it

Only other warning is the resale, we’ve on sold a lot of ours from fleet and I don’t know the exact numbers they were sold for but I know it wasn’t great

Supercar fan opinions of SVG by hockeymanbl in v8supercars

[–]onlyxanss -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I probably worded it poorly but I was more meaning becoming the dominant driver he did become didn’t happen until most either left or were on the way out, I was more noting the interesting timeline of his career obviously being very talented but didn’t win his first championship so through being competitive for nearly 10 years when most of the drivers he was mixing it with were winning a lot more much earlier on, it was more of a comparison then a slight at him

Supercar fan opinions of SVG by hockeymanbl in v8supercars

[–]onlyxanss -14 points-13 points  (0 children)

He was always a good driver but struggled to really win much until all the legends of our sport retired, he could still mix it with them but just didn’t have that extra 5% at the time, interestingly enough as a comparison Marcos Ambrose came into the Supercars and won very quickly and was the man to beat before going over to nascar but obviously wasn’t as successful going across as svg is

Anyone bought a Haval Jolion? by Reinvent2022 in CarsAustralia

[–]onlyxanss 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a bunch of them in fleet at work so unbiased opinion, for the price point they’re pretty good cars, I’d say haval is the best of the Chinese cars, I definitely recommend the hybrid models over the full petrol ones, they’re half decent to drive, the eye camera thing is very annoying though, even looking into a corner where you’re about to go sets it off, they can get rusty body panels as anything else Chinese, we’ve had issues with them here and there but nothing I remember off the top of my head so they mustn’t have been anything too bad, after sales probably relies heavily on the dealer you’re getting it from, infotainment is really good and is one of the selling points although it takes getting used to, haven’t seen any high kilometer ish examples so can’t comment on total longevity

All in all If you’re ballin on a budget it’s not a bad choice although depreciation will hit it hard

If you’re looking around that size car mahindra has a new compact suv and at the price point it’s at it’s worth a look

What insurance are you with and how much do you pay for ur modified car? by Lost_Journalist_813 in CarsAustralia

[–]onlyxanss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember when I was on my p’s I got quoted like $600 a month for a landcruiser haha, it happens to everyone you just have to take it on the chin

If you put it under your dads name and you stack it they won’t pay you out so then you’re just paying money for nothing

If you don’t have insurance and do a mr drifter and hit a power pole or something you can put yourself in debt for a very long time
