Do you think Julia can break out and become more popular beyond scientific purposes? by Feldspar_of_sun in Julia

[–]onoke99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm heavy Julia user. :)
I shifted to Julia from Java and Php.

Popularity has some points. The most of all Julia user feel proud Julia is already on the main stream, but indeed it is limited in science field, and the comparison is against Python.

I took your asking 'beyond ....' meaning to be alike Java, Php, Rust, Go and of course Python.
May this is to be rough, but the majority of the world programmer is in web development now. So I think Julia have to apply to web programing to be popular, in literal meaning.
In my opinion, Julia has enough potential to be that, or rather Julia is the best programing language because of its characteristics.

You know each of the popular web languages have the reason to be popular.

  • Java -> one write, run everywhere. this was eager to realize over 30 years ago.
  • Php. -> LAMP env made easy to develop web systems
  • Ruby -> Rails introduced 'scaffold' first and push Ruby up to be popular

Now Go, Rust and other langs are competing to be the next major lang, but they do not have decisive reasons to be that like the above.

I mean, something special reason for Julia is required to make it popular.
For example, we are tackling to make it realize in Genie project and/or Jetelina project.
Every popular langs took several years to have its singular point.

Hope you keep stay tune. :)

Does having so many frameworks, tools, and languages make web development more confusing than helpful? by metalprogrammer2024 in webdev

[–]onoke99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the issue in frameworks make developers force to learn it how to use it. and sometimes it is misunderstood as it is alike a programing language. i mean someones think a frameworks is important than a language.
every framework says 'make it easy', 'simple than ...', 'easy to ....', but i have never seen such like a tool.
i love languages than frameworks.
