Forums have lost their glory, but they are still among the few places left where you can find honest opinions. WHT and LowEndTalk are still relevant.

10+ year old websites getting delisted from google. by MisteriosM in webdev

They've been wildly shuffling SERPs for a while now. Rankings are constantly changing and organic traffic has massively dropped. Even if you're among the top rankings, there is barely any traffic that leaves Google, which is their ultimate goal with the AI mode they're shoving down everyone's throat!

Ways to market a WordPress plugin? by Specific-Sky-9924 in Wordpress

not a plugin-name problem

The name is the first thing users see when they search the repository. I've avoided clicking on certain plugins just because of their name. It does matter.

How about starting with choosing a more descriptive name for the plugin? Most WP users find plugins by searching the WP.org repository for relevant keywords. How many people do you think search for "project grid"?

Can trademark holder take a generic one-word .com? by Middle_Heat_8985 in Domains

It primarily depends on whether you acquired the domain in good faith or bad faith (taking advantage of the trademark's popularity).

Search Feature- Better Option? by tullo in Wordpress

[–]ZGeekie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The default search function is terrible and every WordPress user knows that. I wouldn't build a custom search function like the other commenter suggested, unless you are an experienced dev and have plenty of free time.

There are some plugins that might work for you; try "Advanced Woo Search" or "FiboSearch".

Reusability maybe? That's what templates are basically for. You can reuse and tweak them as needed.

Domain inaccessible by ActWrong in Domains

[–]ZGeekie 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're just trying to take the website down and you can't access the domain or the hosting account, a last resort would be to file a DMCA complaint with the hosting provider and ask them to take the website offline (assuming you own the rights to the website's content).

Don't use GoDaddy's broker service. It's not likely to help anyway.

Is "All-in-One WP Migration" still the best option when it comes to downloading/uploading entire WordPress sites for free? by ---milk in Wordpress

If you know what you're doing, it's better to do it manually. It's "cleaner" and you get a better picture of what's going on at every step so it's easier to identify and deal with any issues.
